Front windshield is 70%, side windows are 25% but with the factory tint more like 17%, rear windshield on my convertible is 55%. I'm very unhappy with how it turned out because it's just not dark enough and the car still gets hot if left in the sun. Had i done 35% on the rear I'd probably be at peace with it but now I'm going to redo all of it.
I'm thinking either 35 or 55% in the front, and 15 or 25% in the rear, still debating whether I will change the 25% side windows to 15% which with the factory tint will make it closer to 8%, so if I keep them 25% I will c

hange the rear windshield to 25%, but if I go with the 15% i will do 15% on the back to match. I also just blacked out my tail lights and brake lights so the 55% definitely does not match but I'm not sure how dark to go
What have others done and what are your suggestions for mine? Some asshole keyed my car too and it penetrated the ppf so the entire driver side has to be repainted and replaced. I hate people

Wasn't sure which thread you preferred, so I went with the most recent.

Reno, NV, uncovered, black roof and vert fabric top. I feel a vert is going to be hotter than other cars, all else being same.

I noticed covered parking in some of the photos. If paying a bit more for a covered slot is an option, that could be worthwhile.

Regardless of tint selected, buy and place a sunscreen across the front windshield. It's not glamorous, but it will prevent still more UV rays from entering the car's interior.

As to the type of tint, I prefer ceramic. There are several brands and types of tint. Ceramic tint not only blocks light, it blocks UV (heat) rays.

Doing ^ that much can help.

As to the level of tint, refresh yourself with the NV laws, if not already familiar. And the LEO tolerance.

Many vehicles in my area are using illegal tint. It's tolerated, to a point. While a few extreme examples are pulled over, most are not cited for it unless pulled over for something else first.

Some require darker tint as part of a medical condition. If this is you, apply for a waiver.

If you're trying to go dark but don't know about night driving, ask the shop to give you a junk piece of tint, then place it in your field of view. Try that out for a few days.

Good Luck. :please:

Do not confuse darkness and heat rejection. To reject heat you need to go ceramic. There are also different levels of ceramic so you will need to choose one with the maximum heat rejection. Once you do that darker or lighter is just personal preference. One point on going super dark. In the event of an accident you may find yourself in trouble not only with law enforcement but also your insurance company.

Edit: Just reread your post. The percentage you are thinking about for the windshield is both dangerous and illegal in all states. Do yourself a favor and just go with @Skye recommendaion and get a sunscreen.

The problem is my covered spot is right next to a sprinkler and I found out the hard way that water spots on ceramic coat and ppf are permanent. I have seen some products online that can remove water spots but I'm not sure if that would strip or hurt the ceramic coating and ppf

And this is where we get the Ouija board and summon @DFB5.0 who has more products laying around his garage than my local pro detail shop!

@Adamrx11 ..... I owned a building company. While building we installed sprinkler systems on every house we built. First for the owners' convenience then in later years to meet city watering ordinances. I 100% guarantee you that you can change the spray pattern, in minutes, of 99% of the sprinkler heads. If you have an old/rare one whose pattern can not be altered, they are cheap to purchase and I guarantee you if the Condo corp/ HOA association/Townhouse property management company where you live won't alter the spray pattern or install a head that will avoid spraying your Mustang then they are nuts because they can not operate any system that can damage anyone's property in a common area. In other words, if of their sprinkler is spraying your car THEY must correct the situation. I'd start with a polite letter (picture of water on car would be excellent) to the property management company showing that the sprinkler head(s) have to be re-configured or replaced. If that didn't I'd work write to the owners' board telling them you have tried to get the management company to help and a lawyer's letter is next. It should not have to go that far. Get your car under that cover and maybe also away from a parking area where a$$holes can key your car more easily. Terrible that this happened to you, good luck.

I did like a 90% ceramic tint on our windshield. You can't really tell its tinted , but the heat rejection is phenomenal. I agree with Bikeman315 that you don't need to go dangerously dark , just buy the good ceramic film.

I also use a sunscreen when parked in the direct sunlight. No tint will reject heat better.

Thank you i will go this route. The damage has already been done unfortunately, but I'll see what my options are

Mine is ceramic, kavaca best in market, 70 front 55 back 25 sides and i hate the front and especially the back, it doesn't match the windows or my blacked out tail lights abs brake lights so i am going to have to have it redone. Had i done 35 back i would have been content, but that's on me for being an idiot

Not an idiot in the least. We all make decisions and then change our mind. But here are the numbers for your tint. Note the UV reduction is the same across the line. IR is only 2% 70% & 35%. Even total solar energy rejection is only 56% to 63%. So if you have 70% on the windshield leave it. On the back to whatever you want.

May go 5 or 15 on sides and back and 35 or 55 front to feel like I'm getting my money's worth. At night what i have is noticeable during the day but not so much, and the interior is still hotter than I'd like it to be. Is it better than it was with nothing? Yes, but i still feel like i need a sun shade, but you're right, small difference in total heat rejection between 70 55 35 even 15 isn't much different, but the sides at 25 sure do feel cooler than the front at 70, which is why I'm wishing i had at least done 55 front 35 rear, could have lived with that
