Of course it can’t replace a V8 or any ICE for that matter. But if comes down to our only option, what do we decide to do? An EV truck, SUV, or Mustang?
If ford is ultimately forced to discontinue the V8 then the best case scenario is an EV based on the Mustang platform.

fun blast from the past.
If only Ford made commercials with that kind of character now. Revolutionary iconic car. Different time then. Would love to see that kind of revolutionary spirit injected into the car again.

Ford recently mentioned the v8 is staying. The best option is to invest in modern v8 development like they have with lesser ecoboost engines. Develop EV and hybrid tech in tandem.

You really need another cup of coffee! 🤣😂👍
Are the ‘credits’ calculated per mile? Just sell the ev-p-pod for the carbon credits?

edit to add: or include one with every purchase. A cheap little e-bike with enough range to satisfy the carbon offset requirement

You mean like ‘e’ as managed ‘boost’ with pure ice as ‘limp’ mode? Motors in the hubs instead of pads on the discs type of thing?

Go back to it's roots as a fun car, back in 1966, nothing sold them faster than a guy driving his kids to little league baseball in a Mustang convertible with the top down on a sunny afternoon. When my dad did this and within weeks there several more Mustang convertibles at the baseball games. Semi inexpensive fun!

imagine the equivalent of an affordable 2+2 zr1, taking the boys to their football game and smoking tje tires as you leave the game in style afterward. The kids would be the talk of the town. Priceless. Then those kids, their friends, those friend’s parents, and and everyone else will be buying that car in a few years. Gotta leave an imprint.

How about a proper coupe variant alongside the fastback? Either a fixed hardtop or a higher/more practical roofline for a 2+2 seater that at the same time is still relatively swoopy for the S650.

Or maybe I'm just creating bloat now. 😕

I think they can simply square the roofline just a bit. Not a lot.

but really, an AWD cobra with major firepower would be a great shot in the arm for this gen if they can keep the price and weight down on this dinosaur platform.

anything but the RTR whatever that just came out.

not expecting this gen to succeed really. But that’s because ford didn’t try.

A modern new platform that looks and performs all new is desperately needed. No relying on old nostalgia or “hey be happy you still get this old thing.” A NEW, seriously capable platform. Bringing actual cars back into the lineup is a necessity to help. amortize the platform.

a new Mustang coupe, a distinct new or old nameplate with 4 doors and high horsepower options, a rally capable car, a family eco sedan, etc.

Ford can recoup the charger customers, the Hyundai n line customers, the Camry customers, and bring in a whole new generation of Mustang enthusiasts while reinvigorating the current fans who’ve sat this minimal effort generation out.

The problem with EV is the misunderstanding of the fact that the Lithium batteries are not really recyclable. Only the steel framework of the batteries are recycled. There is nothing they can do with the spent Lithium. They just drop it in an abandoned mineshaft like nuclear waste.
There is no way to reenergize the lithium because it would blow up. Chemistry folks, it is in the same column of other unstable elements like sodium.
Thats not true all of the Lithium and other materials are recyclable. I just automated a battery recycling plant for lithium batt and they cannot get enough old batteries to ramp up capacity because they are lasting too long. They can recycle all Lithium and they are not dumping or treating like nuclear waste.

They were several years ago. I am glad that they found a way!

The RTRboost baffles me. On one hand, I think it has better looks than the S550 EcoBoost Performance Package, even with the wrap on. But on the other, how much performance can it have before eating into GT territory? (I can't imagine it having more than 360HP, let alone 400+). And don't people know RTR more for their GTs, anyway?

I like the four-door options you suggested, but I can't see them doing a rally-tailored sedan. (But then again they made the Mach-E Rallye for who knows why in the first place...)
