70% front windshield, 55% back windshield (convertible so it's small), 25% side windows but shop guy says his gun reads 17% due to the slight tint from factory.
I did the front and back windshields separate and to be honest I'm not happy with it because it's not dark enough.
I want to go 15% all around with a 55% front windshield.
But since I'd have to pay to redo it to really get my money's worth I feel like I should do 5% all around with a 25- 35% front windshield.
I know that sounds aggressive but when I look out of my side windows at night that are 25% or 17% if you include his readings d/t installed factory tint I can see fine, and the front will also have the added benefit of the high intensity headlights.
What do you guys think would be good for a 2024 race red convertible performance

Here is what the law says in Virginia...

Virginia Car Tint Laws
  • Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 50% of light in.
  • Back Side Windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in.
  • Rear Window: Must allow more than 35% of light in.
  • Windshield: tinting allowed to the top of the manufacturer's AS-1 line (5 or 6 inches from the top).
Most tinting places will allow you to put whatever you want on your car, but if you do, be prepared to accept the consequences of not following the law. You either follow it or if the police catch you, they will tell you to remove it.

This is what I'm thinking of going with. I like the way mine is now with 25% sides 55% rear windshield 70% front windshield but it just doesn't seem dark enough during the day for heat rejection

I'm in nevada they don't care, and I'm not asking about laws i know the laws, I'm asking what people are doing to theirs

I did ceramic tint on all windows. 35% on all back and side , 90% on windshield. Not very dark , but the ceramic blocks the heat WAY better than std tint , which I have always got in the past.

I personally would never go anywhere near as dark as you are thinking. You do you , so don't take offence. It is dangerously dark for night time driving. Day time , no worries. I want to be able to see well at night , and risking not seeing a motorcycle or pedestrian aint worth it to me. Keep in mind , if something were to happen , it could be used against you.

Darkness has little to do with heat blocking , so in essence it only blocks view. Are people just embarrassed to be seen in a Mustang ? 🤔

My 25 sides 55 rear 70 front are fine at night during the day still hot even for ceramic they'd why was thinking 15 sides and back 55 front, but still weighing pros and cons, the TSER and glare reduction drop doesn't move much from 55 to 35 but does from 70 to 55, may leave the 25 sides alone and just change the windshields, i thought 55 would be dark at night but it's barely noticeable

When you say "still hot" , do you mean after you leave car sitting ? Or do you mean while driving ?

Sitting, but still feel heat when driving with the 70% they'd why I'm thinking do 35 or at least 55 like the shop recommended but i didn't listen

Have you ever tried a sunshade ? No level of tint will stop the car from getting hot while sitting , but a sunshade will keep the dash much cooler , so car will cool down more quickly.

I have never had tint on a windshield before this car , but this 90% ceramic keeps my skin feeling almost nothing from direct light. I have been thinking about doing my Truck windshield now , because the difference is so extreme. I don't drive the Mustang a ton , but since I tinted it I am spoiled driving into the sun. Hard to drive anything without ceramic on the windshield now that I have experienced it.

I heard the darkness has very little to no effect on the heat. .? I am surprised you are still feeling like the sun is burning you. Are you part vampire ? J/K lol ! I think you will be wasting your money to redo it , as I don't think it will get much cooler (temp wise). Might look cooler though.

The 55% drops the glare significantly over the 70. I love this set up I have now, my other Mustang was the exact same except the windshield was 70. Moving forward mine will all be 55/15/5. Its my fav of all the combos I’ve had.

Here is something to consider. Maybe your local law enforcement doesn't care, but lawyers do. Get into an accident, either your fault or theirs, with 55% on your windshield and any good lawyer will make mincemeat out of you. It's a gamble and certainly your choice to do or not do.

I haven't bothered with tint on the convertible. It seems kind of pointless to tint windows that are down 95% of the time.
