Anyone know how to stop horn from sounding when exiting car. I have searched interweb and manual but can’t find answer..I only want it to sound when locking or door/boot not completely closed..Is quite annoying when just getting out & horn sounds for no reason..(that I could find)..

Thanks for any help..
This was driving me insane, especially at 06:30 in the mornings with my neighbors bedroom <10m away. :explode:

I did find holding the fob up against the rear 1/4 window whilst exiting prevented the double-honk 99% of the time.

Sensing the low powered signal through the glass meant it took a few goes to find the optimum spot.

We're RHD down under, but try it on your corresponding side.

Right hand used to take photo, but you would touch the lock touch sensor with your other finger/hand whilst holding the fob about here.

When it went in for it's POM service (Piece of Mind service - it's a complimentary dealer check up we get @ ~3 months in Australia) I asked the dealer to disable the double-honk, which they did.

Piece at last. :whew:

It was a stupid feature, and one that should have been in the GUI to disable, just like the Key Detection Alert double-honk upon exiting the car whilst it's still running.

Get your dealer to do it, next time it's in. :like:

The dash display gives me option for sensors on / off & defaults to off unless I change it.
Will try setting to on when getting out.
No, that's not it. I never touch that and I've never experienced the horn beep like you describe. Is your car from the US or foreign?

They all built in US, but mine is RHD for Australia.

Since ALM had his disabled by dealer will get mine done when complimentary service done..

There are quite some important differences between US Mustangs and overseas Mustangs when it comes to warnings, chimes, and other settings.

Ok. I'm wondering if this is an export programming thing then. Good luck!

Thanks Alan

That is probably true if red button not pressd. In my case the engine has stopped & accessories are off as well.. 99% of the time engine & acc are off when I am getting out of car..
Mine does it on occasion too, and I haven't figured out what the cause is.
I did find a setting where I could turn off the horn when locking the car (I think that's what I did), but the horn still sounds on occasion.

Can you describe me real life events when the horn sounds on your car so I can understand when it does that?

I'll have to take note next time of what conditions it happens under.
I have a feeling that it's when I unlock it with the key and then open the door, but maybe there's more to it, as it doesn't always do it.
Whenever it does though, it gives 2 quick horn blasts.

The 2 quick horn blast normally do it when you step out your car with the key with you while the car still is on.

OK, this happened to me again this evening and this time I took note of what I was doing when it happened.
I had remote started the car, then I unlocked the car a few minutes later with 1 press of the remote.
Then I opened the door to get in, with the remote in my hand, and the horn sounded twice.
I don't know what it was trying to tell me, and I'd like it to stop doing it...lol

This can be turned off in the menus.

Interesting. When I use remote start and get in the car, I dont use the fob button, I just use the handle which has the auto lock/unlock (not sure the official name) enabled. It sounds to me like you need to go into your security settings, and see what you have enabled. I'm sure it's something simple.

If you could tell me what and where the feature is in the menu, I'd appreciate that.
I've searched but I couldn't find it... primarily because I don't know what the feature is (i.e. what it's trying to indicate to me), so I don't know what menu area to look in.
I'd love to know where you were able to deactivate it.

I see you are in Australia. This could very well be export programming spec. The US cars do not do this that I am aware of. I looked through my menu and I don't see anything in my car that indicates this. If someone else knows, then please post.

Thanks. I suspected it may not be changeable in the menu.
It didn't do it this morning. I still unlocked it with the remote after a remote start, but I opened/closed the passenger door to put something inside before opening the drivers door. Maybe one day I'll figure it out :)
