Ceramic coating glass is a waste of time in my opinion, especially the front windshield as the wiper blades abrade to coating in short order. Yes, you get some insane water behavior that reduces the need for wipers, but you can get the same thing by using something like Glass Clean & Protect or Gyeon Quick View, both easier to apply and do job for much less money.

Wipers won't abrade a proper coating. Glass cermaic is made to resist that. I never had an issue, and I live in a dusty climate.

While some glass coatings are better than others, all coatings in general degrade with contact over time. I also really depends on how you use and manage the wipers. For those running the car as a daily driver and leave the wipers in the automatic mode, a coating will be toast in no time. If for example, I put a coating on the front of my Mustang, it would last the life of the car in my care because I never use the wipers, never drive in the rain. Your milage may vary.

I use Rainex and never use the wipers. It wears off but takes a while.

I spray a very small amount on a small (12” square or so) microfiber cloth (one that is more like a washcloth — not too soft) and then wipe my windshield vertically and horizontally. I then wipe it with a really soft microfiber cloth. All water spots gone.
I have bought this product but have not had good results. Not sure if it is my error. Can you please advise how you used on your glass? Thanks.

I've got a whole bunch of miracle cleaners and protection products that really don't do much for me. The more effective it is, generally speaking, the harsher the chemicals. IMHO.

Water spots fall into several categories, including (as mentioned earlier in the thread) the residual minerals from evaporated water, and acid rain. The latter is just about impossible to remedy without serious work (like wet sanding, compounding, etc.) on the clearcoat.

I will suggest that before you start buying these chemicals, try using your clay bar on the glass. It does a great job cleaning the glass and allowing the wipers to work more effectively.

And I'm glad to read that the OP was able to remove that plastic on his/her windshield. It's amazing the things that are overlooked at the dealer prep.
