Manufacturers will typically schedule a closed off day for tests like this. Open tourist days you see people like Misha do aren't good for actual lap runs as the lap ends after the final corner so you don't get the full straight

I know, I'm talking about how Ford had a closed off track say where they reserved the track, but it started raining so they couldn't make an attempt. I assumed that was the end of it until now. Maybe it is, these news outlets like Motor Trend are claiming Ford will reveal the time. All I see is a video talking about the car's development. I just feel like if they got some clean full pace laps in, we would have heard about it.

Nah, you know how ford does this stuff, they'll do a big show off reveal as an advertising thing and probably give the GT guys another gage cluster to keep the conversation around the GTD going until delivery starts.

Currently documenting their attempt- delaying until they can figure out how to get a better time or spin the slow time it ran.......

I didnt think Ford has had a clean, uninterrupted run yet from a-x.

Thought they may be waiting on a handful of scheduled runs to complete.

My thinking was if it ends up being great, they’ll crow about it from pillar to post. If it underwhelms, they’ll probably do a press release.

but… the fact that Ford will be releasing a documentary on the matter sounds like they’ve already clicked off some truly impressive numbers. So perhaps they’ve done better than they thought and now want to build a legend around it.
Very interesting.

Misha had it's doubts that FP will have a clean run due to rain or at very least suboptimal conditions.

However, Ford could do what Mercedes did: post a sub 7 time, claim to be "the first American brand ever" and come back later and have another run. The AMG One had two or three record runs and finally did achieve just that. However, the GTD will never get close to that number so Ford will probably be happy with almost every sub 7 minutes lap.

But since it's an American brand I wouldn't be surprised if they come up with another way of measuring ring times.... Apart from 1-foot rollouts and what not they may just simply add up the best time of each given sector and claim some stupid record 😅

Some details in this vid I haven't heard elsewhere, Ford is trying to take about 70 kilograms out of the car, as it stands, it's close in weight to the gt 500. The head of Multimatic also seems to be implying it's gonna blow the GT3 RS out of the water and that it'll get close to the AMG black series.

ford doesn’t do that. GM did that with the ZL1 and Ford called them out. For a while, Ford stopped publishing ring times due to the rampant cheating and they didn’t want to resort to such nonsense.

That's good to hear, Boone likes cheaters.

It is however unfortunate that Ford didn't manage to get a Ring time. Xiaomi had the same issues as Ford but kept trying and a couple of days or weeks after their failed attempt due to bad weather they were able to set a new record with their SU7 Ultra.

I hope the GTD does well but rumors have it that it is almost as heavy as the regular GT...

the su7 prototype time is great, but a bit slower than we are expecting of the Gtd. I think the Gtd will be best seen that and the amg one time.

mite important to note the su7 is not a production car. So there isn’t anything special about its run nor doesn’t qualify for the record books. It’s just a one-off whose purpose is the get PR for China. If and when it meets standard of a production car we can see how close (or not) it can get to the PR time.

farley has been driving the non ultra su7 for half a year. So he’s aware of what China is attempting.
