I'm copying my post over from the other thread in case one of them gets closed or they're merged:

That's a great achievement! I'm glad that they included that it's a street legal variant, so we don't have the endless arguing here about that. I still think it's asinine that you have to apply to Ford to give them a ridiculous sum of money, but whatever. I'd also like to know how much this will cost since the reality of the GTD is that the 325K base doesn't include the regular track pack (or whatever it's called), so they're really 400K+ cars before the Competition came out.

Also, just imagine what this car would do if Ford had gone all-out for the 7th gen and wasn't using an old steel unibody from over a decade ago. It would shave significant weight if they could use aluminum. Of course, that would likely increase the price as well.
Tried to buy a GT3RS, or any top line Ferrari if you are not already a regular customer?

Great job Mr Ford.
I'm waiting to see what Misha does when the DH is finished.

I wonder how much power this thing is putting out. That was the main advantage the zr1x seemed to have over the GTD, they seem pretty close now. The GTD hit 194 at the end of the final straight, which was only 3 mph slower than the zr1, and it was obviously faster everywhere else.

I thought maybe just as much of the advantage came from being able to reduce the drag from the aero on the straights.

It looks like the car has racing slicks on. If so, this wouldn't count towards "production car" times. Still a great achievement and an insane time, but if they are phrasing it as they took the american production car record back from the ZR1 I think they have to put road legal tires on it and run it back.

ZR1/X ran in the prototype class. I'm sure they'll run again but if they run slicks then they'll stay in that category.

It's a pre-production prototype class, and I can't find any reference to the tyres allowed.
Slicks are definitely out for production cars.

Only because it wasn't for sale in Europe yet. They used a US spec car.
It should be a lock that GM returns and I think there is universal agreement that they will lower the times they ran, and the reductions have the potential to be significant. Until then, those times are only good for the prototype class. Just the way it is, you know?
