why are you surprised by the gas guzzler tax? its not something new. its been around since the 90's
I'm surprised by the wide range and high price. I also remember when gas guzzler tax only applied to V-12 Italian sports cars (at least in the U.S. as I recall). Now they apply to Mustang. Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

Do you understand the tax you are talking about are you aware of what it is and how it works?
I was just goofing around, man. I think all tax is ridiculous, but it is what it is.

Funny to see Americans are hurt about the gas guzzler tax.

In my country the gas guzzler tax on a Mustang GT is 70.000 USD.

A Mustang GT costs 120.000 USD in The Netherlands.

Taxation is what caused us to break away from the English crown and how we got started as a nation. 250 years later I guess we still hate taxes. I know I do!

I don’t guess I understand the gas guzzler tax. My current 5.0 Mustang gets 22 MPG EASILY on a 40% city/60% highway commuting week. That’s better than a LOT of vehicles in the U.S. which do not get hit with a tax. I don’t understand taxing a vehicle that gets over 20 MPG when you’ve got full size trucks running around getting 13 MPG that are tax-free.

The tax was instituted in 1978. The world was a much different place back then. Read all about here.

two things
1: the tax only applies to new vehicles sold in the US, so people buying clapped out shitboxes that barely make 15 mpg dont have to pay it
2: The U.S., as it so loves doing, passed the gas guzzler tax back in the 70's and hasn't changed it since. Trucks and SUV's werent very popular back then, so they didnt see the need to add them, and never bothered added them since.

I made a educated guess lol.
With it basically being a M1, I can't see it getting much worse MPG than the GT. I see maybe 2-3 miles worse tops.
Kinda like a Mach 1 but not. :giggle:
