Hello all,

Working on getting gears to show up on my A10 Ecoboost non-HPP model. Continuous Gear Display is enabled, but nothing shows on the dash. Select Shift has been enabled and works while I'm in "L/M" mode, but still no gear display on my dash.

I've found the following IPC line that looks interesting:
Gallon Display Type (GDT) - Gear Select (GS) - Global Window Open (GWO) - Global Window Close (GWC)
720-02-01 *xxx xxxx xx--
My AS-BUILT data is "0": GDT US Gallon - GS Non-SST - GWO disabled - GWC disabled

If I'm understanding the spreadsheet correctly, changing this value to a "4": GDT US Gallon - GS SST & Range Select - GWO disabled - GWC disabled would change Gear Select to SST instead of non-SST without affecting any of the other settings, but I'm new to FORScan and want to confirm before I change it.

Can someone with a confirmed working A10 gear indicator take a look at their AS-BUILT data to see what digit they have on this line?

Thanks in advance

does the text at the bottom of the instrument cluster say "PRNDM" or "PRNDL"?

Text still says PRNDL

After enabling Select Shift when I put the shifter in “L” the icon on the instrument cluster no longer highlights and the car behaves as if it is in “M”

that might be your problem. i am not sure where, but i bet in the IPC somewhere there is a setting to change the "L" to "M", and things might work properly after that

actually, i just saw that you mentioned you found it in the spreadsheet. that should be the correct option to change, as "SST" is short for "Select Shift Transmission"

Thanks for the confirmation. That did the trick.

Changing 720-02-01 *xxx xxxx xx-- from a "0" to a "4" changed the instrument cluster from "PRNDL" to "PRNDM" and CGD now works as expected.

Could you post a picture of what your instrument cluster looks like now and where the gears are being displayed?

Can you please give us details how and what all have to changed using forscan?

Here's a photo of how my instrument cluster is now, and where the gears are displayed. Small gear icon next to the "M" icon at the bottom, as well as a larger gear icon on the left opposite the speedometer. Both numbers display when the car is in "D" or "M."

Here are all of the steps that I took to get a 101A non-HPP EcoBoost to work with paddle shifters.

- Install new steering wheel (I went with Dark Horse for the black trim, but any GT wheel with paddles should work). Wiring harnesses are the same with the exception of the heated steering wheel option, which was not available on my car. There are a few YouTube videos on this for step-by-step instructions if you need it.
- Enable Select Shift in FORScan (PCM 7E0-03-01 xxxx xxxx x*--) change 1 to a 2. This will make the "L" selection on your gear shifter behave like "M" should but will not change it on your instrument cluster
- Enable Gear Select SST in FORScan (IPC 720-02-01 *xxx xxxx xx--) change 0 to a 4. This is what changed the "L" on my instrument cluster to "M" to actually show gears.
- Enable Continuous Gear Display in FORScan (IPC 720-12-01 xx*x xxxx xx--) change C to E or just use "easy mode" for this swap.

And that's it. Made a few other changes while I had FORScan connected and will likely continue to tweak things as I dig a little deeper into Livnitup's spreadsheet, but that's all that was required to get paddle shifters working which was one of the main features I was missing from my S550.

Awesome man for all these details, kudos!

Yeah, that’s the one I got.

One note if you go that route. The Dark Horse wheel comes with the steering wheel control switches already assembled. I have standard cruise control, not adaptive cruise control, so the switches on the left side of the steering wheel are slightly different on this wheel. I went ahead and swapped those modules so that all the icons would remain correct and there wouldn’t be any inactive buttons. Easy enough to do with a torx bit screwdriver, and you only need to do the left. All the SYNC/media control on the right is the same

I have the 201-A $3k equipment package with heated wheel and adaptive cruise control, I think only air bag module is needed in my case right?

Correct. Your steering wheel control switches will all be the same then. Just the airbag transfer and you’ll be all set

Still debating in my head whether its worth $500 or not, what’s your opinion?
