So I have used Liqui Moly Full Synthetic on my cars to great success in the past.

I had anticipated going to Full Synthetic Motorcraft but after seeing the pricing I decided to go back through Liqui Moly.

It meets (specifically) the required Ford Spec from the owners manual, AND- it’s next gen API and ILSAC (7), so it covers all the bases required by Ford.

When I ran it in my previous car- I saw about a 2-3 MPG improvement in gas mileage. Going to see how it works in the 5.0!

Napa had the 5L jugs at a great price AND has a 20% off coupon through tomorrow- so I got them for $35 each!!!!!

So to all the oil snobs out there- get them while you can!

I’m only speaking from my personal tested experience. The most I could manage on my WRX on a typical trip to Houston from Dallas was 25-26MPG- once I switched I was at 29 every time

I bet going from 50W to 0W-20 will save a bit of gas.
Bet you wouldn't even notice.

1.0 to 0.5 mpg, maybe

2-3mpg from just switching to a certain brand is re-fuckin-diculous

even if you went from 5W-30 to 0w-20

especially on a car that gets 15 city 24 hwy!

that would be a 10% difference on the highway. You'd also see a huge jump in HP which we all know doesn't happen either.

Could be a host of other factors affecting mileage, even the fuel blend in that area changing.

I saw a claim of 5.5 mpg from switching oil online elsewhere. I have doubts.

Absolutely could be. Regardless of those claims, seems like a better oil than the motorcraft full synthetic and costs less too.

So that’s what I’m going to try in the 5.0!

Just FYI, Ford Motorcraft full synthetic is five bucks and some change per quart at RockAuto.com

As long as there is car oil, there will be "this oil is better than that oil". Read the owner's manual.

Yep… just like gas brands lol. As long as it meets or exceeds the specs outlined by the OEM / owners manual- enjoy what makes you feel better.

part of the hobby :)

Technology keeps moving forward. Both engines and oils are way better than half a century ago, and probably better than a decade ago. I haven't kept up with it all, but oil is improving over time.

There's always an oil thread/sh*tfight in forums.
The biggest difference I've found was in a new Suzuki Bandit I bought. The shift was horrible, like kicking marbles with your foot. At 1000kms I changed from the Motul semi synth first fill to Mobil R4T full synth, and the shift was back to the normal great Bandit feel.

Funny you say that because I used to ride sport bikes and there was a difference in oils when it came to shifting. On the engine, I didn't feel any difference. Meanwhile, back to Mustang oil.
