Exit Warning

I'm the only car in a parking lot and when opening the door I get "Exit Warning Turning Off Exit Safety". Could someone tell me what it's warning me of? Thank You. VAT

The car is warning you to be sure your gun is accessible and keep an eye out for approaching danger.

The rear radar detects cyclist, pedestrians or something that may collide with your door when opened. Especially helpful if you do a lot of parallel parking and exit on a busy street.

I think you can turn it off under Settings > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Driving Safety > Safe Exit.

Our Lexus has it too and it's even better because it won't even let you open the door If its camera sees something coming.

The exit warning applies when the car is on. When you turn the car off, after a minute or two the system turns off and tells you it is turning off - that is the message you are seeing

It uses the BLIS sensors

Only from the back you can't get t-boned the camera doesn't work that way. I have definitely thought about that.

I like the RX500h because it has a push button to open the door, but that same button/lever can be pulled like a conventional handle to open. So no risk.. I've seen some of those Chinese EV's where the occupants can't open the door if there's an electrical fire and no power. That's scary. I watched a video recently where a guy spun out on ice into a gully. The driver got out of the car, but his door shut behind him because the car was angled in a gully then he couldn't open up his door or the back door. He had to smash the window with a rock and pull the passengers out through the window. The car was already full of smoke. The passengers were hot boxing in a black plume. Luckily everyone made it.
