Hi folks

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

I loved the axelback upgrade on my S550 but am considering an H or X pipe on the S650. Have any of you upgraded the exhaust yet? If so please share your experience.

Cheers

Mark

I have a 2024 GT Premium Non PP but with Active exhaust. My only mod is a roush H pipe. Here are my thoughts:

- Cold start is a noticeably louder for the first 20 seconds, then not much louder.
- More "burble" than stock
- Each active exhaust level is basically moved up 1 level except Quiet. Normal = Sport, Sport = Track, and Track sounds real mean.
- Quiet mode after cold start is a little louder, but still very quiet and less than normal mode before the H pipe install

Hope this helps

EDIT: I see this is in the UK section. Not sure if it matters but I am in USA.

Thanks for the response. I was thinking Roush or Steeda H pipe. Is there much difference between H and X pipes when it comes to noise level/type? I like the V8 muscle car burble.

Cheers for the help from across the pond

I went with the H pipe because I also like the old school V8 burble. This forum and others say H pipe gets that sound more than an X pipe as the X pipe is a little more raspy.

However, I have not heard the two back to back in real life, only in you tube comparisons, so I can't give you a definitive answer.

H pipe also. Noticeable louder in all modes of the active exhaust. I do hear a kind a tinny rattle when the rpm drops quickly. Very wierd.
Maybe one the valves is rattling.
Im not liking it.

I have had 3 Mustangs in the last 4 years and each was the Premium GT non performance pack without the active exhaust. I also am old school and I love the sound of the Roush H pipe. It is "Throaty" and that is what I like. X pipe to me sounds too much like a something from those miniature cars in the Fast and Furious movie. Just my honest opinion

I'm not sure to what extent this applies to the EU models with the OPFs. In Mustang 6 facelift models the H/C-Pipe is from 3 to 5 dB louder. And that is quite close to the dB spread range stock models of the same generation have.

On the topic of being louder about one exhaust mode :

I live in Switzerland and will delete the resonator today. Unfortunately it's cold and raining and I'm coming down with something and it's gonna be late and dark. Also, since I neither have a helping hand nor a tripod, I'm not gonna be the one providing a before/after-video of the EU Gen7 with the H-pipe.

Lemme know how it goes.. I own a DH (EU) and the sound is nowhere near my previous Bullitt (EU). I'm missing it so much and I'm considering an H-pipe as well.

I can confirm that it is a significant improvement. More bass, more rumble, clearly louder. No drone. I'm quite happy and don't think I need aj aftermarket cat-back exhaust. Especially not one that some call quiter than factory.

Thanks! What's the reason you removed the whole thing? To cut it easier?
And what brand is that H-pipe? Did you painted it black?

I used a chain cutting tool and wanted to meassure the length of the cat-back remainder as presise as possbile. I thought this would be easier with the resonator inlet exposed and the whole thing on the ground.
It is a Steeda H-pipe which connects butt-joint style. I chose it because I think (but I'm not sure at all) it can be welded easier if necessary (muffler rotation). It is painted black because the new car already came with an almost entirly black-coated underbody and I wanted it to blend in.
I used this clamp to prevent problems with muffler alignment:
