Does anyone know why Ford deleted wireless charging for S650 MY25?

I see that VAG have gone to ventilated wireless pads, I don't know how well they work as I turned Mustang fanboy.
I have found why my phone wasn't charging though. The carbon look cover I had must have been real carbon and blocked the charge. I've got a thin plastic cover now and it is charging.

Sometimes we get too fascinated with technology. Wireless charging has potential, but putting too much in a vehicle can result in more time in the shop for minor issues. It's like the garage door opener that has just been deleted in 2026. I have rarely been able to get them to work on certain brands of openers. My iPhone 14 on my 2025 would overheat when charging via the usb C port, but that was resolved when I upgraded to an iPhone 17. Why deal with the aggravation of wireless charging devices.

It's easy to get aggravated by technology when you don't understand how it works or how to use it.

As a professional with decades of experience in IT, and the ongoing enshittification of most products, it's even easier to get aggravated by technology.

Technology is great ,, when it works properly. Despite a couple guys who it works well for , most state it is a junk charger. Obviously if fORD removed it , it is clear that it was not working well for most people and they had received negative feedback.

My guess is they also worried with all the people complaining about hot phones , there was a increased chance for a phone battery fire. Not great , especially if it happens while parked in your garage, attached to your home, with your family inside. Who knows for sure....

I have a reasonable understanding, but when AA in my wife's car connects to her phone even it's 10 times further away than mine and mine was connected 5 minutes before, I reach for the hammer.

One day a friend connected his phone to my car. When I dropped him off I tried to connect mine and didnt work. I deleted his phone out of my car and still couldnt connect. I had to turn off and turn on the car to get it to work.

It's enough to drive you nuts. But, the Mustang has been far superior to her cars system. I've only had one failure to connect and I think it was my doing.

I may be off since I do not know AA, but it may be that her phone is tagged as the default unit. If so, it will always search for that phone first.

I have a 2024 GT 401a and wireless charging is essential. On long trips it keeps the phone from going dead. Last summer I was coming in from Canada and when I hit the border at 10:45 and got through at 3:15 without out wireless charging I would have been dead in the water. On my trip to Washington DC a 6hr trip the phone would have been long dead. I will not buy a car without wireless charging in the future.

Exactly the same reason why I'm happy with it.
Is it charging fast? No.
Is it warming up my phone? Yes
Does it sometimes stop charging? Yes
Does my phone survive longer than without it? 100%

It works for me and can't live without it.

Phones shut themselves down if they get too hot - have done for years.

You can plug in to the USB using a lead - what we all did for years!
