Hi there,

On cold mornings, my 2025 GT which I got in August has started making an interesting high pitched sound on cold mornings ….
Pressing the clutch pedal very slightly makes it go away, and eventually it stops and doesn’t come back until the car has been standing a long time in cold weather.

Check out this video of the sound and pedal movement:

And ideas?
Cheers!

Almost sounds like tennis shoe toe squeak and some harmonic pedal vibration, when the metal is cold.

can you note the particular timestamps in question?

Sat here for a minute thinking, but I truly couldn't tell ya.

Shouldn't be the throw out bearing, those only spin when they meet the pressure plate, thus you'd hear no noise when the clutch disc is making contact with the flywheel.

Certainly shouldn't be the clutch disc or flywheel. Only way that would make sense when parked is if the input shaft or crank is rubbing ever so slightly against the rear main and/or input shaft seal, but I have never seen that, and I doubt it would make a noise similar to that.

I doubt it, but maybe its the the input shaft through transmission spinning. Highly unlikely, though its possible. Maybe its just a little noisy when cold.

I don't know the answer for sure. But it sounds exactly like the sound my 02GT makes... with zero pressure on the pedal it makes a small squeal, but as soon as I touch the pedal its gone...

Some people have suggested to spray some kind of lithium grease on the fork to quiet it down. or adjusting the cable itself somehow... I think it's almost universal for the tr3650. (Just my 2 cents, sorry if I'm wrong) Also, yes, I know the two transmissions and clutch setups are very different.

agree with @LouG. like maybe the pressure plate fingers are BARELY making contact with the bearing not enough to spin up the bearing. just a metal on metal squeal until things move around some

Thanks everyone!

It’s weird that it only started doing it when it got really cold. Lows were around 15 degrees F.
Then it did it again this morning when it was 44F, and that’s what really made me curious.

Almost sounds like tennis shoe toe squeak …///…

Oops there was a little shoe squeak there in the beginning. Good catch!
Timeframe was 7-9 am. The “long time in cold weather” meant over 8 hours in 15-30F.

Thank you! I’m not alone! :D
Yes, whenever you put a little bit of pressure on the clutch pedal the noise stops. It seems to come back for me a couple of times if I release it quickly, but if I keep it down for maybe 5, 6 seconds and gently lift the pressure off, it goes away too.

Do you think it’s worth mentioning to the dealer when I take it in for the BCM recall?

Cheers, and thanks again!

I would check any contact points on the pedal arm. It sounds like a vibration generated sound. See if a little piece of felt on the contact points (i’ll need to crawl under the dash to take a peek but it’s over in the garage at the moment) or even a weight suspended from the pedal (just to see if it’s the oh so very slight rub of the pedal arm - internal to the interior not sourced from outside the cabin)

oh btw: by timestamp i meant the time marker in the video. At x time to y time type of thing.

Yep, always mention these things. Then, if it goes bad, you'll have told them in advance.

Mine makes a similar noise also. I've been monitoring it, but not too concerned at the moment.
