Do all jacking rails, make the factory pinch weld jack obsolete?

I want jacking rails, am looking at Steeda.

Would a shorter rail allow the use of the factory jack?

Thanks,

I was wondering this myself... I have been holding out as I don't want to lose the ability to change out the spare on the side of the road.

@tj@steeda ?

There's plenty of room in the back near the pinch weld. Front too.

The front picture is here ... jacking rail is the the right.

This is the Steeda Ultra-Lite Jacking Rails / SDA-555-5212

That doesn't appear to be the jacking location... it is wider than that. Thanks though.

The jack works there. I've used it. It fits right up against the rail.

Another option for our Mustangs (I had Steeda JRs on my former Focus RS and they worked great) is ZL1Addons jacking pads. I've got them on my GT and they also work great. Additionally, they weigh much less than rails and are easier to install (just ran my GT up on my car ramps as opposed to needing a lift with the RS/rails).

Good luck with what ever you get!

Looks like a better, easier to install solution than rails. 👍

The question is where do you put the jack stands once you jack up the car using the pads?

Ford has arrows molded in the bottom of the side plastic strips down the side and bottom on each side of the car. Not sure what that part is called. I believe the arrows are identified in the owner's manual.

The pads clamp on with 2 allen head set screws. 2 pads on each side; I loosen the screws on the second pad and move it to where I want on the pinch rail and place my stands/jack, etc under it. Piece 'o cake.

Right.
One pad on the front pinch weld and one on the rear.
So say you are jacking up the car to remove a front wheel.
You place your jack under the pad in the front and lift the car.
So far so good.
Now following good safety procedures you place a jack stand under the car to keep the front off the ground.

Maybe I'm missing something, but where do you place the jack stand while the car is still being supported via the jack under the front pad?

Thank you for that!
Those points would be my choice as well. I'm assuming the Ford manuals don't mention them is because for their purposes jacking up the car would be either for a flat tire, so consumer, or on a lift, professional mechanic.
