I recently learned that the fender flares have an adhesive under them as well as the pins. Seems like once that adhesive goes (whether from using Brake Buster on your wheels or just from water or age I don't know) then the flares don't sit right.

Anyone found a good work around or a better replacement than what Ford put together? I've almost got the "deficincies list" down to 0 however this is one of the ones that makes me scratch my head. Jank design!

Are your flares under the fender liner or on the outside supposedly they are supposed to be under but mine are also on the outside but are fine for now.
Maybe try putting them under the liner

mine are on the outside of the liner. I’m considering buying another set and having them installed fresh now that the Whipple is installed etc. I just want want this to repeat.

I think the flares stick to the metal and the liner doesn’t overlap except at the mounting points?

Anyone else mount their own fender flares on the DH?

How did you do it?
- Above the fender liner?
- Below the fender liner?
- Alternative mounting method? (super glue? better 3M double sided tape?)

My dealer has tried installing the fender flares 3 times. Each time they only stayed in place for 2-3 weeks. It is an absolute crap design. It's going in for round 4 shortly

Now that the supercharger is installed the front bumper doesn't need to come off anymore. I'm debating on getting double sided tape and some sort of adhesive.

Is your dealer going to try something new this time around?

I'm not sure what they are going to do this time. For some reason the double sided tape just doesn't stick for any length of time.

Hopefully after you get it fixed you can come back here and post a sit-rep. We can't be the only 2 DH owners with the issue?

One thing I was thinking of was taking them off, removing the OEM double sided tape and then lining that muthatrucka with 3M double sided tape, trimming any excess and then reinstalling it back.

I only have that happening on the left front part where it meets the front bumper... a bit of a gap. It's a bit annoying but it doesn't look like I can do anything about it because it looks like that part of the bumper sticks out a bit.

This is going to be painstaking, but it was worth it. I removed both my flares as the tech who installed it wanted as much of the like 1.2 - 1.8 he gets for installation and had em' all fucked up. After removing the flares, I removed the old adhesive and used my own 3M double-sided tape and put it on as much of the surface as I could of the flare. Using just some isopropyl, I prepped the inside of the fender and stuck er on straight and have had no issues. For that front end ga I put a bit more of that 3M double-sided tape in the slot that was meant to 'clip' onto the front bumper, and used it to not only wedge so it sticks to the front bumper but stick what's extra to the inside to give it a little more adhesion. I generally never have an issue. I wash my car frequently, so every once in a while it'll come loose It could also be the constant force of excessive speed but it doesn't require too much tape to secure and isn't too difficult.

This is essentially what I have been thinking of doing.

I have a roll of double sided 3M tape that is about 1.25" to maybe 1.5" wide already so I would.....

- Order 2 packs of 4 PIN clips that Ford uses for these things (W713610-S300)
- Remove the fender flares
- Strip out the cheap double sided adhseive
- Clean the metal fender, as well as the trench on the flare itself, with isopropyl
- Line new 3M tape down in the trench and as many other contact points as I can
- Stick her on and jam extra tape into any spot that clips/pins

I was even thinking to see if there were like a wingnut option to put together to just really hold this thing in place. I do not forsee the front end coming off again any time soon so a more permanent solution is ideal.

The push pins I had supplied, at least those that come in a package with the flares for me hold extremely well. Those W713610-S300 may or may not as well. You could try U-Nuts with the black 7mm screw that are all over the belly pan and that. They have a nice washer that won't punch through as well. Those would be a for sure tight hold and easier to remove if ever needed.
