I'm assuming you chose the latter route?The right way, which involves removing the gauges/infotainment screen, a/c vents, and part of the center console; and the' f that shiznit' way of taking some masking tape, a rag, a small flat blade screwdriver, and just poppin' that b!tch out!
With a small screwdriver, you can get in there enough to pop the button off its tabs, but you do have to be careful that you don't mar up the area around the button.
