Went to check this morning and noticed the Dark Horse was delivered yesterday. I am at a pass now though. Even without the markup that is not needed it is still alot. If I do not take the car it means I get to rebuild a 1969 Hurst Olds. Not sure the direction I want to go.

As a former 1970 442 owner, I’d tell you to do the Hurst/Olds. Why? Big block. No replacement, and real character and collectability. Enjoy it! Wish I kept my beast. BTW, Midnight Blue metallic, post car, holiday coupe, W-29, 455 CI, Auto T400, with factory olds HUBCAPS! And white letter polygas Goodyears.

I grew up with my dad having a 68 442 which he still has. I still remember the day he brought home the 69 when I was 10. The goal was to get it running by the time I went to prom. Well prom was 10+ years ago and it still does not run. The amount I will spend in just payments for the first year would finish the full restore and it would be mine after that.

Definitely restore the Hurts Olds, without a doubt if you already have a nice daily driver. Buy a Dark Horse or whatever new marketing “special edition” that will pop up for the 60th anniversary. Paying an ADM would be a deal killer.

Yea I think you are right. Also the Hurst is special because it is an all numbers matching car. I do have a decent daily nothing special. Also got the S2K if I want to corner a bit but that is also needing lots of TLC under the hood

Big decision, but like everyone so far is keep the Hurst Olds. That is an awesome car.
Curious though on your specs for the Dark Horse you ordered?

Its pretty much everything. It is a AP,HP Blue ember 6 speed with the recaros. Also the Hurst would be going any where. Its just more if I am not speeding the money on the Dark Horse I can spend it on the Hurst

I vote Hurst Olds as well......that with the S2000 and a daily make an awesome combo-

Only on one condition - you stick around and create a build thread where we can follow the progress on the Olds (I have owned classic muscle cars my entire life- first time I own a modern one- and I find myself looking at classics for sale constantly)

If I am allowed I will 100 percent do a build progress on it. I know its not a 7th gen but I can sneak photos of my dads shelby to keep it kinda mustang

I have to give you guys on 7G some credit.
I really kind of thought most of you would have picked the DH because of the change in marketing target age. Thanks for restoring my faith!

Trust me I really wanted to pick it up but I really think in about 4 years I could pick one up at half the price. I don't think they are as special/rare as it was made out to be.

You can't deny an old school build. Only way I'd say get the DH is if he was having health issues, couldn't move around as good, or if the car has rust that has eaten the frame up. Then you go DH. But a good classic build will be a story to tell for ages.

No rust at all except for one small bit on a body panel but the frame is completely mint. The motors been completely rebuilt hasn't been put in yet but it was completely rebuilt

Awesome! Definitely post this build when you are done man. We'd love to see the car when you are done.

Well just got back from the dealer. Got photos and Chassis number. 100 percent decided to not go with the Dark horse and not going to lie the Manager at that dealer is a massive asshole. Which I hate to see because the sales guy we worked with for our maverick and Dark horse was amazing he was a great guy. But also for the Hurst here are the photos of when we first got it. Dad also said he will be signing the title to me now
