Dark Horse cam install?

2024 Mustang Dark Horse
I've had my Dark Horse since April and I'm loving it. I was wondering if anyone has installed a cam in one. I honestly don't know the problem and cons of such an install. If there's anyone that could enlighten me, it would be much appreciated. Thank you😉

You'd need four cams.

does anyone offer aftermarket gen 4 camshafts yet?

and then you'd want to get it tuned...

and cams aren't a huge gain on coyotes anyway...especially hp per $

I see, sounds like it would be a waste of money. I did see that Ford Performance does offer them. That sound is incredible though. Thank you for your sharing your knowledge.

I'd imagine camshaft manufacturers are waiting on any kind of tuning possibility before investing into R&D on gen 4 cams. Getting your true potential of the camshaft would require a tune, otherwise it's mostly just the noise change.

Your DH has better cams than the GT. There is very limited stuff out there until they unlock the computers. Then you will be able take advantage of the new cam. You want to have fun put a Whipple on it that's what I did to my DH and I love it.

Your DH has better cams than the GT. There is very limited stuff out there until they unlock the computers. Then you will be able take advantage of the new cam. You want to have fun put a Whipple on it that's what I did to my DH and I love it.

Ford engineers in a interview I saw stated the cam is stronger and different profile than the GT and probably what makes that extra 20 HP but that's just my opinion as you cant prove nothing on the interweb.

I think the power difference has been shown to be a software tweak

have not seen any part numbers etc though

OP - No offence to you, or anyone who wants an NA build...but if that's your jam, prepare to spend some serious cash on very little gains. Coyote engines LOVE LOVE LOVE BOOST. Absolutely the best gains per $$$ you can get.
yeah, Ford has pretty nearly maxxed out the abilities of the naturally aspirated Coyote V8. it seems like any additional power from here is going to cost a lot for little. they have high compression, a cylinder head with high volumetric efficiency, DOHC with intake and exhaust VVT, port and direct fuel injection, active length intake runners, they basically have everything that improves power while not being stupid expensive. next logical step for power is boost

Probably wouldn't be much different than a gen 3 setup with cams

nearly 600hp naturally aspirated with cams? real question is how long that engine is going to last. i think that is well into the realm of unsafe/unstable power

These are engine dyno graphs so they are higher than you would see on a dynojet
