Do aftermarket S650 dry filter intakes activate the engine light? Since the amount of air entering the engine will differ..

I read several threads that many people have faced this issue, but I’m not sure if it depends on the air filter’s type.

I've feel the problem occurs more frequently with K&N filters, most frequently with oiled filters.

Some filters change the volume of incoming air enough to max the fuel trims and/or pester the MAF sensor.

Oiled filters often result in the owner using too much oil, the excess residue impacting the intake sensor.

In your example, what is the brand name dry filter have you installed?

I’ve bought these but they haven’t been shipped yet. If they’re gonna cause any issues, I’ll just stick with the regular paper filters.

Most likely the potential for problem is the same as one would expect when doing a factory replacement. Most of the oiling problems were customer errors which can also occur when also doing a factory replacement, barring failed or insufficient filter media.

I'm using Think Auto dry filters with no problems. And, I had after market CAIs/filters on my previous 2 Fords that cause no issues.

Those filters wont bother your car you will be fine. Ive been running the think auto filters for 6 months with the carbon traps pulled and i have not had any issues at all. As long as the piping before the maf is the same size its fine the car will adjust to the slight air flow difference. For example the dark horse intake opening is wide open to the airfilters vs the gt that is half way blocked off. A lot of folks swapp out their grills to ones with the dark horse style open intake ducts and it doesnt cause any issues.
