Well, the fat's in the fire now.

As I said I thought I'd run a CL ad locally as I've had good luck with them before attempting an online auction so I posted the ad this morning. An hour later I get a call from a feller in Michigan from ClassicCarDeals.com asking me if I'd allow them to list the car for me. A little Googling and Grokking and I said sure, why not. They seem legit and he explained himself very clearly, my BS detector did not so much as wiggle.

I am getting waaaay ahead of myself but have noted a 25 DH with 3K miles on it locally from Carvana that ticks off every box..........

Somehow I don't think it'll be that simple (but hope it is). I am 62 going on 5 - on the night before Xmas no less.

Why on earth would you let someone list the car for you? Thats the oldest online scam.

Those place are all shadey and just want to make money off you, and they dont care how it happens. In the end it wil never be a favorable deal for you. Be smart and be patient. You dont need someone to help sell your car. If money is not an issues then patient.

Thanks but I’m not naive and under zero obligation to this place. They have an A+ BBB accreditation and from what I can see the majority of complaints come from people dumb enough to buy a car online without inspecting it.

I recently sold a pile of handguns to an online dealer and the whole thing was slick as whale snot, couldn’t have been easier and I got excellent $$ out of it. It’s OK to consider alternatives, I’m at no risk with this

This is a major scam all online car listing sites warn you about. And it happens through AI almost immediately after you post the car on Facebook or Craigslist. A random company contacted you on the internet unsolicited, after you listed the car. This random company wants to sell your car out of the kindness of their heart? They aren't charging you a listing fee or a storage fee? You keep the car in your possession? They take all offers to you and negotiate on your behalf? There is no contract or time frame for this sale to happen? When a deal is reached, they just send you a check before you sign over the title? If and when the car doesnt sell they just walk away and say thanks for the opportunity?

No way. I highly doubt any of those things are true. And even if it were, why would you need them in the first place?

Theres no such thing as a free lunch. Some people need to learn the hard way I guess. Good luck.
