Hey, any idea where the front to back CG is? I want to purchase cargo trailer to be used as a car hauler and get escape door installed but not sure where to position the escape door. I have a base GT fastback with the 10 speed.
The cargo trailer is either an 8.5x24 or 8.5x28 tandem 5200# axles. Any recommendations and/or tips are welcome as I haven't transported or loaded a car in a trailer before.

F/R weight distribution is right around 55/45 and wheelbase is 107 inches, so about 48 inches behind the center of the front wheels. I suspect that's about where the windshield meets the roof.

Thank you for the quick response

Unfortunately, in most cases the door wants to be about where the front trailer wheels are.
Meaning the trailer will have the escape door too far back? Centered over the two tandem axles, while the car door is centered over the front trailer axle?

Unless you are using the escape door to gain extra car door access, left front or rear for access/escape is slightly more convenient than shimmying around the car inside the trailer, that is unless you are backing it in.

I was suggesting that having the trailer door right next to the car door is unlikely since the car door will be somewhere right about where the trailer wheel wells/tubs are. The guy that transported my BMW to it's new owner climbed out the window NASCAR style. I believe it was an 8.5 wide (maybe 8.0, but even so) trailer and you couldn't really open the driver's door since the wheel tubs make in more like 7.5 or less wide in that area.

The other things people do...with varying results are:
1) build or place Ramos inside the trailer to elevate the car to where the drivers door clears the trailer wheel tubs
2) my suggestion and I suspect the most often used solution...add a winch and pull the car in.

The winch sounds like a better option, thanks for the Idea
