Seems to me that the center console cubby light does not operate with the armrest door. Meaning the light is always on or stays on for long time.
I put my phone in video record mode, put it in the cubby, close the lid, exit the car, lock the car, wait for 1 minute.
Then unlock the car, get my phone and review the video. This light stays on all the time.
What gives?

The last car I owned that had a center console light was my 1989 Taurus SHO. Can't say I've ever seen one since. What the heck are you driving?

I found threads as far back as eight years discussing this topic. Feedback was anywhere from 5-30 minutes. Some posted schematics, highlighting how many of the interior lights remain on (like the trunk) for some time, even with the car locked.

These circuits are timed to shutoff. I could not find anywhere in the manual where the length of time can be adjusted.

One person in a 6G confirmed his shut off after 45 minutes.

Things happen. The magnetic-based contact might not be working right or making a good connection. Give it one hour. If the light is still on then, have the dealer check it out.
