Hopefully I'm in the right area.

Had a bit of bad luck. About a week ago I was driving to work and I had some cats run across the road. Despite my best effort, my lower grille insert is now broken and it also appears part of the shutters are broken.

I will be going through the dealership to get it repaired. Before I call tomorrow, how much should I expect it to run me? The bumper itself is fine.

How screwed will I be when it comes to resale? I'd been kicking around the idea of selling it and buying a Monte Carlo SS like I had in college. Probably won't but man I miss the Monte Carlo.

Maybe it was foolish to buy such a nice automobile considering where I live (KY; it's as bad as you imagined) and I should have just bought another '60-'70s pickup. Worst part is the setback to my hot rod. Was looking to get the body stripped and a '32 frame built but this is probably gonna burn up alotta my fun money.

Stupid Kitty! I can't help with the repair questions... But I was just yesterday thinking how nice the swivel seat out of the old 74 monte carlo would be at my age, lol. Building a 32 frame?... I put one of these under mine.

My first car was a 1974 Monte Carlo. White with burgundy interior. Been a few years.

I'm going to guess ~$750 for a dealer to take apart the front and fix the grille and replace the shutter assembly and reassemble. Totally just a guess though.

If you're not using insurance then I don't believe the repair will hurt the resale.

Your car is sharp. With the IFS probably drives great. Mine will be as close to late '50s-'64ish build as possible. No frames I've found are close enough short of an original but I'll leave those to guys who need them to title their cars. Never driven a buggy spring car looking forward to trying it out. I have a '28/29 Model A coupe body.
