I'm new to my 2025 Mustang GT (without switchable exhaust mode) and enjoy it so far, but my wife complains that it shakes the house when I start it. I'm not new to performance cars, but I must say it's a bit loud and I worry that the neighbors will be upset when I start it on Sunday morning to buzz down to Cars and Coffee. Is there an after-market solution or can the optional exhaust system with sound modes be fitted. I'm afraid to ask what the cost might be.

If you have active exhaust, set the timer to start on quiet mode. You can get to these settings in the dashboard. I have mine set from 9pm to 9am daily.

If you don't have active exhaust. then you will have to search out another method to include changing exhaust parts.

May look into small bullet resonators before your stock resonator. That may quiet it.

You can get aftermarket variable muffler systems for about $700-$800. still be able to remotely change your exhaust note. But add in cost of professional installation.

As a Ford option, it was about $1,500 off the top of my head. But installation on top of that I assume.

Or just invest in a quiet non-adjustable muffler, but that’s no fun
lol.

I am thinking that reprogramming the dash for the adjustable exhaust when added might be a bigger challenge? If you don’t mind the exhaust being quieter all of the time, I am sure your local muffler shop will have solutions for you
I have the optional Ford exhaust and even when quiet mode is chosen, it still starts explosively and does not go into quiet mode for 30 seconds or so.

If you have active exhaust on a timer it starts in quiet mode. There is no delay.

A couple weeks ago I went out for a nice Sunday walk for Cherry Coke and Rocky Road float. Seen a beautiful purple S550 which looked liked it just came off the showroom floor. It was quiet as a church mouse. I had to struggle trying to see the rear badge because I felt no way could it have been a 5.0. It was a GT. I hear the S550s aren't as loud as the S650s even with louder exhaust. I'm debating between an H-Pipe or Borla Switch fire. But I've heard the Switchfires sound a bit tinny with stock mufflers.

Yup, got it on the timer, and still starts explosively — too loud for my 55+ community standards! I have the timer set so the only time it is NOT in quiet mode is between 2 AM and 3AM.

Interesting
maybe the Quiet Mode timer doesn’t work right. Have you tried not setting the timer to see if it starts in Quiet Mode then?

Strange how many older people can't hear when you talk to them, yet when you whisper some bad to someone across them room they say "I heard that you young still wet behind the whipper snapper, why I oughta .....!" Sometimes I think they just act like they can't hear just to drive people crazy. I should talk, my left ear is all plugged up.

I'll take a noisy car over a noisy wife and bad neighbors any day...... đŸ€Ł

It's nothing a decent lawyer can't work as a first mod for a new GT......:crackup:

On a more serious not, sorry, but that couldn't be resisted.....FD

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the car!

So coyotes are VERY loud on cold start up. It is a fact of life. Unfortunately on a GT with no active exhaust there is no quiet mode that will help. And even if you had it, the improvement is only marginal.

If its an absolute deal breaker, I suggest you take your car into an exhaust shop and ask them their recommendations. Most likely some small resonators before the mufflers, or just quieter mufflers will be the only option. Just understand that doing either will effectively neuter the exhaust note and restrict performance while driving around.

I say just tell the wife it's part of the charm of owning a Mustang and to get over it. And I'm sure the neighbors aren't as annoyed as you think. Enjoy the car and don't stress. 😎
