Semper Paratus....Served in Vietnam "Operation Market-time",then station in Boston, on USCGC Chase, USCGC Boutwell, and Group Boston. TDY on the Eagle and flew in HU-16 Albatross on International Ice Patrol as Radioman/Navigator. Served 5 years. What year did your Dad serve and where was he stationed? USCG Base St George, Staten Island NY. That what's on his DD214 as last assignment. Four year term, looks like a certificate he got was DD 217 CG. Im not to familiar with any exact details of his time, but I will say he was overseas in Japan and others and he has said ocean station victor? I guess that is a port or something? 1960 to 64 i believe and i think it was around 3 years 11 months. Rank SR. I think petty first class. He is an engineer and refrigeration specialist. I remember he has said he had to fish bodies out of the water which was pretty bad because of skin just sliding off!. Crazy right? I couldn't imagine that.
