I'm a 50yr old, divorced, white male with a clean driving record, no accidents, and better than 800 credit rating. I still don't feel like I've seen any decline in my insurance rates!
Is there really a difference in the USA when getting an insurance based on skin color?

🤷‍♂️

I don't know.
Probably somewhere.
Maybe Everywhere.
Maybe Nowhere.

But they always ask...
Every g*d d@mned form you fill out there's a check box for ethnicity 'white/not hispanic' or so it seems.

Well, it's maybe not quite that bad. Yet.
Probably 3 out of the 4 most recent forms I had to deal with were related to the ATF
I never heard of a country making distinguish between skin color. That's racist.

And at 25, with a credit card, you can finally rent a car.
Which also brings up the, don’t fall for the additional insurance rider when renting, your auto insurance should cover any vehicle you drive (unless sr22 type of thing)

I was with Allstate for 20 years with a great driving record. it was expensive. Then my wife told me to switch to Erie Insurance. Same car, same policy, was less than half of Allstate’s. I called Allstate back and asked how it was possible that Erie was so much cheaper. They said some companies …they just can’t compete with on rates.

The lesson: Shop around for better insurance rates!!! It isn’t the same across the board. If your insurance is expensive, it may be the company, not you.

Yup, unfortunately there are many people who do not shop around for better rates but keep complaining.

I've seen many people who are so loyal to a brand or company and I don't get that. As if they get paid yo stay.

I'm very blessed. But at 15 I have my learners permit not license. Only reason we got the car early is because it was a really good deal on a brand new 2024.
I think it's very cool that you have a new Mustang. What an exciting time in your life. I'm 76 years old and my only advice is to be careful. Things can happen very quickly when you're driving. You're young and hopefully have an amazing life ahead of you, but never forget you're not invincible. You're going to make some mistakes along the way. Trust me. We all did. Again, enjoy the new car and be careful. :like:

Absolutely!
I tried those supposedly 'cheap' insurance places for a while (Gieko, Progressive, General) and when I switched back to a local outfit here I ended up with better coverage for about half the cost!

I stuck with Allstate for so many years out of ignorance. I had no idea rates could vary so much between companies! I thought your rate was your rate, and that’s it.

I always avoid companies that advertise. Advertising costs money, and who do you think is paying for it?
