This is a test car. But not Ford. That‘s a Multimatic car.Interesting, and I recognize that Love's station. Used to stop there on my frequent trips between Michigan and North Carolina.
I expanded the one picture where you can see a little of the plate because I was wondering if it had the "M" plate that Michigan issues to manufacturers. We see them often around SE Michigan.
But that looks like it is not a Michigan M plate and it has a dealer plate surround on it. My first thought was that Ford had it out being tested, but with no M plate and a dealer surround it suggests that is someone's personal Mustang.
It will start life at the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant and then be transported to Multimatic facilities in Markham, Canada, where it will be handcrafted for racing-inspired precision by the Ford Performance and Multimatic teams. Mustang GTD will be available in late 2024, early 2025.
