As you can see opinions vary and different driving styles are some of the biggest reasons why one or the other.
i had the 10r80 in my 2020 GT/CS with a tune and it was a beast for sure but I enjoy controlling my Mustang with a 6 speed and opted for the MT82 in my 24 GT. I paired with
a Steeda TriAx shifter and I love it.
personally I like the 3:55 gears better then the 3:73 for daily driving and auto crossing but that is a personal preference. Your PP will have 3:73 gears and will rip off the line for sure.

my 2 cents for whats it worth.

I ordered a GT Premium Convertible, 6-speed, PP and Magnaride in May. I sat in front of the salesman at the dealership. The salesman and I reviewed the computer screen together selecting the colors and options I wanted. I walked away with a copy of the order and a receipt for my deposit.

Next day I got the first ‘Ford’ email acknowledging the order for the car, that emails would follow as the order progressed. To my surprise later that day the salesman whom I met and ordered the car with called and said he cancelled the order. The order was done under the wrong dealership. It took him 4 orders to get the options correctly. Ford sent emails for 2 of the 3. The 3rd one was right..

The car being built does not have a 6-speed, it's an automatic. It’s one of the orders the salesman got wrong..

It’s in production this week and will likely be shipped soon. I told him I wanted first dibs on the car with employee pricing that lowers the MSRP nearly 6k. If I order a 26 like I want it will run about 70 or so..

My question is.. are you satisfied with the 10 speed auto trans performance or are you aching for a 6-speed? Want to know how stick shift drivers experience driving with the automatic.

Here is the car I am waiting for..

It depends on what you intentions are with the car. You should know that apples to apples, the 10 sp auto can shift faster than a human and therefore quicker in acceleration. I have 24' vert, premium, PP, AE, Nite Pony and the 6-sp and I enjoy driving it everyday. I did not buy it to be the quickest car in town, that would be a different OEM and model but I chose the Stang for cruising and listening to a manual from start to stop. Best sound in the world is a V8 manual. I plan to cruise around town, the great lakes but I let the "dogs out" every now and then and it moves very well. Track or modify for improvement, get the auto, for cruising get the manual.

I commend you on your patience in dealing with your salesman that deserves a neck-slap. If it were me? I would wait and get the car i originally ordered with the 6M.

I have a 10AT and like it a lot. My wife has an Audi A5 sport automatic, and I dont really find the Mustang inferior. Sure, sometimes in downturns it’s a bit abrupt, but nothing like the old 6 speed automatic of the 550, this AT10 in the 650 is a pleasure to drive.
Plus I find that the manual mode from gear 3 onwards works pretty well.
Only times I sometimes miss a manual is in fast hilly curves, where the AT can’t guess what is coming ahead, that’s just the way it is.
If you drive mostly in straight/highway drive I would stick with the automatic: the feeling of pressing the gas and just feeling the thing shooting gears so fast is awesome.

My experience, and some won't like this input, but, this is my experience with both the 10sp GT and the stick 6M.
On the highway or in stop and go traffic, the 10 speed in auto is a lot easier, simply hit gas, hit brake, etc.
On a straight line acceleration, I've driven both, yes, the 10 speed auto in track mode does get better times, and even with the auto in manual mode starting in 2nd or 3rd power braking a tad, it is a tad faster than just foot down track mode auto mode.
But, for me, most of my driving is in East TN, hills, slight mountains, lots of curves, hard angled hilly curves where the curve one car length up almost 180 back right and you can almost see your rear tires coming up the curve still (exaggerating, but those that have driven roads this twisty and hilly know what I'm talking about, it ain't flat land FL or ... not cutting down FL)

In the hills, sharp curves, and hitting it hard then off then hard, the auto just doesn't do it right. It has too many hard thunking shifts that are very jerky klunky and can actually hit so hard it feels like you've been punched in the back then immediately let off? what gives? stupid shifting...
It is no where a smooth as auto's use to be. My older cars shifting auto hit these curves without blinking or kathunking or whatever and it just worked, smooth, hard, fast.
I am very experienced with both stick and auto, and just got the auto this time because I am a bit older than I was 10 years ago and wanted the comfort of just gassing it and stomping it when I want. I have driven it with two Ford dealership mechanics and their response is that is natural for this 10 speed. So, there is "no issue with the car", it just shifts a hard jerk once in a while that is a real pia that I'd never had on pre -10speed cars nor on manuals. I noticed this same issue with a few years earlier Explorer Platinum and ST. Fantastic beasts, but shifting erratically on hills/curves that never felt before.
And yes, having that clutch is so much easier when I answer another mustangs growl in traffic, seems to be the Mustang equivalent around here to the motorcycle wave. And we have a LOT of Mustang Events in the East TN Pigeon Forge Gatlinburg area, some rather large, some small.
To "growl", on the automatic, one has to put it into neutral, give it a little romp, sometimes it doesn't growl up until you romp it again, (stupid thing, I gassed it, it should roar, but doesn't always) then back into drive "smoothly" without kathunking the 10 speed, confusing it.
Manual is so much easier.... and granted, so much more fun for a driver that wants to hit hills/curves... jmho.
I have driven both, and driven the Dragon with both and get the same times on the manual that I do on the 10speed, so, while it seems to accelerate generally better / faster on straights, and then when I'm in control of the gears it does so much better. Even when I put the auto into manual mode, it just isn't the same as shifting manually with a clutch.
your mileage may vary, but those are my two cents
Buy what you want, don't get stuck with buyers remorse, as I am.

My previous post may sound like I hate the auto, no, I love it, it is fantastic for normal hard hitting driving around city street type roads and interstates, but has so many flaws when hitting hills and curves.
would I buy it again? probably, just because I do like it's convenience more than manual, but if I want something to conquer these hills and curves, well, the auto ain't it. at least not for me.
I'm very experienced with stick and can shift it about as fast as the auto can on the back roads when needed, but of course not when doing straight line just accelerating driving.

Jshenry1963….just curious. What driver mode were you in when you experienced the clunky auto shifting? Normal, sport?

I have both and like both. The six speed is the first gen and shifts fantastic. I only changed the shifter to an MGW as the stock shifter felt sloppy. Later gen 6 speeds had many improvements.
The A10 is hard to beat if your looking for fast shifts. I have zero complaints. On early year A10's there were many compaints and I think Ford has addressed them.
They indeed have not addressed the issues with the 10R80.

I would consider myself a manual "purist". But i cannot freaking stand the POS manual they put the the GT. So i got the A10 and i love it. Have not regretted it once in my year+ of ownership.

I will say, if it was offered with the TR6060 it would be a manual.

Well........................all I can say is it's a damn good thing your sales rep is a sales rep and not an EOD Tech. THAT career field doesn't tolerate mistakes well! JEE ZUZ!

Oh yea.................................the transmission. I was going to order my GT with a 6spd, but the dealer gave me an 8-10 month delivery wait; putting me into the '25 model year and what would have been about a $4500 price hike over an equivalent '24 GT. So I bought mine off their lot with an A10. I like it a lot better than I thought I would; easy to use; shifts great, NPs!

The advice to test drive both a manual and an auto GT was spot on! 👍

Best of luck getting what you want!

I've driven manuals all my life and did not like the last Tremec 6 speed I had in another make at all. I have the automatic and it has behaved perfectly and nobody can shift nearly as fast if that is important. I don't regret ordering an automatic at all. FWIW.

I have owned both, currently have a 25 dh 6spd, “had a 24 Gt a10”that was bought back as a lemon.
The auto was faster sure, but it was boring. The a10 does some weird stuff sometimes. When in manual mode there is a noticeable delay between when you hit the paddle and the gear shift, they also like to make a supercharger like whine noise, that can be subtle or intrusively loud. Let be real about something, Fords quality is crap, no matter what you get or what you spend your gonna find quality. control issues, cheap paint, fitment issues, weird noises, cheap materials etc. If you want a manual the gt is a fun car and there aren't really any other options, if you want auto there are Nicer cars in a similar price range (c8, is500, etc). We had the a10 before my DH and I regretted not getting a manual until I well got one lol, get exactly what you want the first time, its a whole lot of money to play with.
