I was looking at another thread and they were mentioning JBV1 app for Android to pair with V1 or standalone. That got me looking at similar apps compatible with iOS. Found the following apps.

V1connection, the app
  • This is the original app that I have been using albeit not very often after setup. This is the official Valentine App.

V1 Companion
  • This is a radar companion app built specific for the V1. It is 3rd party app and not from Valentine. There are also separate compatible versions for the following radar detectors. The Radenso DS1, Uniden R4, R8, and R9 (Older R9 requires a firmware update to 1.26 for Bluetooth activation).

V1Driver
  • This app is built specific for the V1 also. There is also a Android version (here). It is a 3rd party app and not from Valentine. One app works for all of the following radar detectors. The Radenso DS1, Uniden R4, R8, and R9 (Older R9 requires a firmware update to 1.26 for Bluetooth activation).
Then last there is Highway Radar. It is currently in a iOS beta state. So I linked the website only for reference.

Here's a good comparison and run down of features between them on Vortex Radar.

I am leaning toward the V1 Companion app as the interface is much cleaner and covers most everything I would want to use, but there are a couple of features on the V1Driver that would be nice to have. Does anyone have actual experience with the V1 Companion or V1Driver paired with an iPhone (or iPad) or do you have additional ones that you feel are great apps for us iPhone users with a V1?

JBV1 is the best by a country mile, but the developer won't/can't do an IoS version.
If I had an I Phone, I'd get a dedicated Android to use that app. It's that good.

I've used both V1 Driver and Companion, both are decent apps IMO; but most of the time I don't bother using anything but Waze. Maybe it's just my particular phone, or possibly the combination of also using Waze and Spotify at the same time; but even at the 2 to 3ft my phone usually sits from the V1 while in the car or truck, it somehow still manages to loose its connection. 🤷‍♂️
