Maybe it's a matter of which country you live.. but unless you did something "special" to your car (while you can even add those mods, if added to the insurance contract), a car is just a car, and the insurance isn't crazy expensive (considering its price). It get stolen.. you buy another.. the insurance will pay (yeah with a minimal difference, but whatever) who cares.
Also, the percentage of stolen vehicles is minimum if compared with the vehicles damaged: to search for stuff in your car, to take off your wheels.. or you cat... I mean i don't see this "big" issue here.
That’s great, but, if you compare the cost to insure in and around a “no pursuit/no action taken” city for vehicle thefts to a locale that actually follows up on vehicle thefts or deploys officers in and around high theft areas to deter the theft in the first place, you’ll notice that the cost to insure the vehicles is much higher in and around jurisdictions where they only take reports of stolen vehicles. A LOT more.

TX is ground zero for cartel bounty theft, mostly of super crew trucks. As @BrownsReds points out, F150s are stolen at much higher rates, largely because the F series is COMICALLY easy to break into; retract the door handle, twist the lock cylinder, you’re in. It’s 3-5 seconds tops.
I have very strong hands and I can almost turn that cylinder with just my thumb and index finger, but a multi-tool is all you need. Chevy and Dodge aren’t much worse to get into, but the F series sets the standard for easy, unwanted access.

In and around Austin, Houston and San Antonio, you’re only a few hours from Mexico. So, thieves can swipe a truck, get it to safe location, swap plates and head for the border. If they can be cool for 2-4 hours, they’re Scot free in Mexico and can collect a lot of pesos for their efforts. Even though it’s felony theft, all the departments do in and around these locales is take your report, add the VIN to the stolen vehicle db, empathize with you and wish you a nice day. That’s it.

“I have insurance, it’s not worth it”. That works a few times until you’re flagged as high risk and companies stop offering comprehensive coverage to you, or offer you coverage for all but theft.
And nobody is immune. I have relatives in Washington DC, including one who is employed by a three letter agency. They average a vehicle stolen every 15 months. It’s been a government asset more than once, but I’m not sure of the count. Some have been abandoned, others never seen again.

Insurance companies are in the business to make money and they are astoundingly good at it. They are able to use all manner of factors to determine your “risk”. Any conceivable commonality they can establish to a “loss”, they’re basically allowed to use to raise your rates. So, if you file multiple claims, or cross a dollar threshold, etc. They’ll break up with you. I saw Geico do this to a friend of mine a few years out of high school.

Also, the insurance companies aggregate data to determine risk factors, and they amortize risky customers with better driving customers. The latter do get better rates, but you’re still covering higher risk drivers out of your region.

Hello everyone from Spain!!!
Finally i have ordered a GT, the delivery time is very long but i´m happy.
I need know where is the fuel pump relay.
Thanks for you help.
I don't know where the relay is but perhaps the fuse location below might help you trace it to the relay. Note this is from the Australian manual but I suspect it'll be the same worldwide for fuel related stuff.

Update - grabbed one of these - solid, easy to fit and remove and well reviewed.

A good old school deterrent

Will think about remote immobiliser later but for now this will do

Frostee, I'm looking at a good 'ol steering wheel lock myself.

The steering wheel airbag cover protrudes quite a bit, so I can see why you chose the Stoplock, although the lock part is rather large and "bulbous".

How have you found this to use on a regular basis?

Did you consider any others, such as this one also available at Supercheap?

I'm wondering if this will fit.

I’ve found this very easy to use. I didn’t buy mine for Supercheap because as far as I could see they only sold what I recall was called the Pro version which was much bigger and made to accommodate SUV’s. I bought mine from Amazon. Was about $100 and came from the UK (free shipping with Prime membership)

I just keep mine on the front passenger floor because I’m typically the only one in the car. Attach and detach on a couple of seconds it’s not cumbersome at all.

I chose this one based on reviews that I read and no regrets: I can’t see how the Super cheap one you mention wouldn’t be as good. Hope this helps.

I'm just looking on Amazon now. They do a Pro and a Pro Elite. From the pic yours looks to be the Pro?

Copy that!

I see that SCA sell the larger "Pro Elite" version.

For anyone else playing along at home, you can see the "S bend" is more pronounced on the Elite version. It's also 25.4mm longer to accommodate larger steering wheels. (That's 1" longer for y'all who don't do metric).

I'm dropping into a local SCA today, but I'd prefer the more compact "Club lock" type, but need to confirm it will get over the airbag cover assembly.

Whilst I'm looking into OBD2 port locks, I've ordered some of these stickers off Etsy.
They ship from the UK, who are really into all of this stuff.
Perhaps their car theft problem is as bad as in Melbourne.

Irrespective of whether a port lock is fitted or not, it's just one more deterrent layer that may save coming back to a broken window. :lock:

Oh dear.... :giggle:

These muppets demonstrate three things;

1) The Disklok can be defeated - could be an expensive false sense of security.

S650 Mustang Anti Theft Solutions Screenshot 2025-10-08 112552

2) Single bar "Club" type locks can be easily defeated with a cheap cordless drill to drill out the lock mechanism. :lipssealed:

S650 Mustang Anti Theft Solutions Screenshot 2025-10-08 112428

3) Stoplock can be defeated with a grinder and large hammer (not 100% effective as claimed), but it requires substantially more effort than the "Club" type lock. :muscle:

S650 Mustang Anti Theft Solutions Screenshot 2025-10-08 112742

The Stoplock could represent the best bang for the buck, considering all of these devices can be defeated, depending on time and on-site resources available.

There was a spate of car thefts in my area one weekend a few months back.

Someone put on FB footage from their doorbell cam.

The little scrotes rolled up in a stolen car, one jumped out and hopped into another parked in the drive. I'm guessing it wasn't locked. Sunny Sunday afternoon and all that.

He was driving off 10 seconds later.

These things slow them down and they have to make noise removing them.

Yes it’s the Pro - the Pro Elite was the one I was referring to as larger and aimed I think at the likes of SUV’s

Never expected the lock to be unbeatable but rather create disincentive and move on somewhere else.

I am still interested in a OBD2 lock or a kills switch but haven’t progressed that.

I'm gunna as a stoopid Q....How does it actually stop the wheel from turning? Is it the fact that once the wheel turns at some point the yellow end will bang into something? Never used one so curious...

Thats pretty much it.

You can still drive the car but your ability to steer is inhibited.

When you turn the wheel far enough the end will hit either the transmission tunnel or your right leg. Maybe even the windscreen depending on the car.

Good practice would be to put full lock to your left when parking. Then attach so the long end hits the trans tunnel as soon as you try to steer, if possible.
