Active exhaust is my favorite "extra" and I purposely chose not to get performance pack.
Same. I love the active exhaust, didn’t need the performance pack but I get why some want it, but did add the brembos

The active exhaust does come with some performance perks as well as some party perks. First the extra horses, 8HP may not seem like much but in a world of performance every HP matter. Second remote rev. Just a small cool party trick for car meets. (maybe all mustang come with this). Third, opening the exhaust up from time to time help eat a lot of that carbon up from the engine. Fourth, track it with active exhaust😎 you will see, hear, and feel the difference. But all honestly, there some perks but It what you want in the end.

It's 6 HP, and there's no way you feel it on the street.

Ok - so thanks for everyone who has been commenting on my which trim / spec to purchase.

I'd only driven a base GT up until this point... couldn't find a manual PP with Active Exhaust to drive - until today.

What am I missing?

The Performance Pack - 100% Definite improvement. Love everything about it. It's a must purchase / add.

I was most excited to test out the active exhaust...

And - well, I came away a bit - underwhelmed.

What am I missing?

At idle, all settings sounded the same (car was already warmed up when I got there - salesman took it and put gas in it).
Under half+ throttle, there was definitely a difference, but nothing like I expected. I was expecting quiet to be - well, super quiet.
It was still nice and rumbly. But even track mode (which I'm assuming is wide open) - it was only moderately louder.

I came away with from it thinking - why would I spend $1600 on that option when all the modes sounded like they were within 20% of each other...

Did I do something wrong? Saleman was of course clueless on how even to find the settings - I finally figured it out.

Thanks in advance, again...
I don't know...I got compliments on the sound of my stock active pipes yesterday. Sounds pretty good for stock...no regrets paying a little more.

Do I feel the extra 6 hp in Track Mode exhaust? Probably not…

BUT, the throttle response is much more immediate, so going into Track Exhaust mode must also advance the timing a little as well as adjust the throttle curve.

Put it in Sport Exhaust and take off from a stop…no need to stomp on it…just go like normal. There’s a bit of hesitation….like a fraction of a second of input lag.

Now set exhaust in Track mode and go….notice a difference?

To be clear I am talking the Drive modes are the same, only comparing the throttle feel from changing the Exhaust Mode.

The trottle response difference between drive modes doesn't have anything to do with exhaust. It's all throttle mapping.

I have a '25 GT with the manual and active exhaust. Quiet mode is what I set it at when I want to listen to my tunes better. Sport is loud enough to show off a little to my Mopar buddies. There is a definite difference between quiet and track or sport mode. I generally just drive in Sport Mode. I like the steering in that mode as well in our mountains.

That is exactly my point. My theory is that Track Mode exhaust setting also adjusts throttle mapping.…..and I’m NOT talking about drive modes. I’m talking about ONLY exhaust settings affecting throttle response.

Next time you drive put it in Track Exhaust and tell me you don’t notice a more instant throttle.

Crazy? hey, Ford is sneaking exhaust noises through our stereo, who knows what some electronic settings do?

But changing exhaust modes independently can't effect throttle mapping. All the exhaust modes do is actuate the valves in mufflers. Mapping is based on the tune. If you're feeling a difference in trottle response, it maybe be attributed to less exhaust restriction since Track exhaust is wide open 100% of the time.

Sorry, but I don't follow the question.
Sorry,
I thought you replied about the posts talking about the comparison of a base Mustang exhaust sound level and an AE Mustang in quiet mode. My bad! Glenn
It definitely will.

Track Mode is pretty quiet if you're keeping your speed constant and your foot out of it, but get near someone and it will definitely wake them up if you put your foot in it, LOL! I just did some town driving in track mode and it can be rather fun! I noticed people stay back from me at stop lights. I don't know why. I also don't know why track mode is louder on a stock GT because in Sport mode, the butterfly valve in the exhaust is open all the way. So where is the extra sound coming from in Track mode??
I've seen that as well. It's almost like they are unsure what is going on and they don't want to get too close. Better for us! It keeps people away from our cars! Glenn

Something along the lines of: ‘loud pipes save lives, obnoxious ones get shot’

come on man... give me another reason to go for a drive later. only one issue with this. I'll have to come out of track exhaust.

I hear you, and can’t argue with that...and that makes 100% sense. But it’s such a small increment over Sport Exhaust to have such a dramatic difference in pedal response.

In all honesty, how do we know for sure that selecting that digital option doesn’t do more than just move a flap in the muffler? Who knows what else pushing that ”button” does? Just a thought. Not like it’s anything Ford would confirm.

Lol… Switch from Track exhaust to Sport and report back if you can. It’s so noticeable from a dead stop...especially if not stomping it, but a measured take-off.

I guess the secondary factor to judge now ….is if moving the muffler flap wide open alone has that much effect on pedal response. I hate to be a stubborn PIA on this, so other opinions are welcome.

So far Ryan thinks I’m nuts…lol. 🙃
