Let me get this out of the way right now, this is definitely a
#firstworldproblem

2nd, the AC in the 2024 Mustang is orders of magnitude better than any vehicle I’ve owned, or been in. I’m in south central Texas, and we have just had the thermostat turned up to broil. I’ve had to repeatedly turn the AC temp --UP-- for comfort even in 100F+ temps.

It’s taken me a few tries to make sure I didn’t have something inadvertently done to make this happen, but the defrost is off, ‘auto’ is not selected, and the scenario is this-

get in the car from a remote start, a/c is on, I deselect it. Sometimes it disengages, but today, 82f before sunrise ride to the gym, ac stayed off after I selected off. coming back, temp is still 82, a/c disengaged, then reengaged on its own. I’ve got temp set to 73 now, it was definitely way colder than that. I was able to turn the system off / on and AC did not come back on.

Besides defrost and the auto climate setting, anything else in settings that might contribute to this?

I don't have a solution for you but my fans kick on at cold start even when there is nothing hot. I've taken it to the dealer twice and they checked everything. No codes or any other issues, just a fan constantly running which I assume means it'll have a shorter lifespan.

I’ve been spending more time with it and of course, it’s been suitably hot to need A/C pretty much all the time. It’s probably some automatic setting to keep us safe from ourselves :-/

I’m not experiencing AC on all the time, but the behavior is a little odd; at least 2 times I’ve turned AC off, the car responded, you can feel the temp difference pretty quick and then shortly thereafter, AC fires right back up.

Did I mention this car has the coldest AC I’ve ever had in a vehicle?

Locals did a multipoint test and checked for any HVAC updates, but, the tech confirmed the ‘unexpected cold’ condition ;-) It’s unexpectedly cool here today, only 82f with rain & T-storms.

It’s expected; I’m paraphrasing but basically the car automatically engages the AC if the internal conditions, temp, humidity etc as determined by sensors near the mirror on the windshield determine, regardless of whether you have auto climate selected, AC selected or not.
Working as designed.

Challengers also have a humidity sensor that will turn on the AC if certain conditions are met. I don't like my car making those decisions for me :)

#MeToo

i thought for sure they wouldn’t have anything on it but the tech and s/a both fiddled wit the controls and eventually looked up the function. They don’t sell a lot of Mustangs, mostly trucks.
