Perhaps we should start another thread for Mustang vs BMW interior.

The question was to determine exactly what the difference is in the trim between the 400 and 401.

If nothing significant, that extra can go towards something else like a set wheels, tires, etc...

I just think if you're going to have a "special edition" Mustang, that costs "special edition" money -- all aspects should be "special", no? Interior as well as exterior and drivetrain.

So if Ford had put a little piece of plastic "support" behind the dash it would be all good in your eyes?
Is what BMW did "all good?" No.

Is it better than what Ford did? Yes.

Are there examples of dash boards that are much better integrated which Ford could have emulated? Yes...

Even something like the 2024 Ranger would have been nice...

And I'd say what BMW did a bit more than just a "little piece of plastic support."

Is the mustang interior better than an M2? No.
Is it better than an s550? From what I've read and seen, yes
Do I care? No, I'm here for the big rumbly V8 if I cared about interiors I would've gotten a supra or an m2.

Now back to the original question, the biggest difference between the 400 and the 401a is the accents the reason the price is so high is because it includes the B&O sound system vs it being optional on the 400

The assist+ and adaptive cruise are useful, I got those together with the BnO.

Called the dealer to see if changing the order would delay it at this point. Its been a couple of weeks.

Having had a bunch of BMWs, including the e39 M5, I think the new ones looks hideous.

That 6sp manual was one of the most fun cars I had, getting this GT as it would probably remind me of those times.

If S650 mirrors the S550, I would say the biggest difference will be the 401A’s full grain thicker leather seats compared to the 400A. That plus Co-pilot 360+ & B&O makes it easy for me to justify the 401A. (Not to mention extra lighting, integrated mirror signals, and wrapped leather knee bolsters)

Interestingly, the E39 m5 was very similar to the mustang.
5.0 v8, 6speed manual.
Slightly less power, Slightly less weight.

The interior was nice but not groundbreaking.

The audi R8 exclusive package had a beautiful interior!

At the end of the day, its a Ford. No one expects a Bentley interior but its a question of specing it for the best value (preference).

How much would I have to pay to get a 2024 BMW with a V8?

You know, one of the main reasons people buy a Mustang..

Agreed, value is good.

If its DH money, I'll probably go for the C8. Too bad no manual there.

The way I look at it, if I'm already paying $60K for a Mustang (which is BMW money), I wouldn't have mind paying a few thousand more for a Mustang with a classy-looking dash, and I don't think wanting one is an unreasonable expectation.

The V8 DOES sound better, but the twin turbo I-6 is no slouch. I'd take either one, or both.

But, if I do get the Mustang, I want the the nicer interior over the base interior. I can forgive SOME of the plastic, I just don't want any of it to feel hollow like my C/S does.

Having owned a 2015 750lix before going with the Mustang, it's just one sample here, but yes the luxury is off the charts with the BMW. Yet the Mustang has surprising touches that I didn't expect, like the back of the seatbelt socket being padded, the quietness when AVE is closed, the solid door closures, the very balanced safety features (the bimmer was good, but not as good in some ways), etc. The bimmer was in the shop every six months for something or another, and sometimes more often. Service was great, but the inconvenience wasn't. I haven't had to go for warranty work at all with the Mustang (so far). The insurance on my mustang is exceptionally low.

I absolutely loved the BMW, but not sure I'll ever go back.

Besides some high gloss plastic, literally what's the difference? People are seriously tripping over this. All I know is my Whataburger cup will certainly fit better in the stang =)

Its the quality of the materials. I am awaiting on touching and feeling a 401A S650 before I make a judgement. If the plastics/materials are the same quality of the S550 (which is very disappointing) I would probably just keep my S550 or move on to an M2.

True, when you consider that the MT M2 ran a 118mph in the quarter...thats moving. Way underrated.

It seems like no one can change your opinion on this so why buy a mustang if you dislike it that much?

There are tons of us here who love the new interior despite it not being an ultra-luxury cocoon, nor care too much about the niceness of our sports cars. You're asking a company who's nicest interior is in a F150 to compete with actual luxury car markers, it's never gonna happen.
