Besides some high gloss plastic, literally what's the difference? People are seriously tripping over this. All I know is my Whataburger cup will certainly fit better in the stang =)
This is what i’ve been saying. Ppl will eventually realize that the s650’s interior is on par with luxury vehicles (as far as looks) for half the price.

Its hard to say without sitting in one yet. Ford has a way of making it look high quality until you get in the car and feel how shitty the plastics are and the quality of the soft touch material. Having owned Ford's, BMWs and Porsches I can attest as of yet Ford doesn't hold a candle to BMW let alone Porsche when it comes to interior quality of materials. I remember when the S550 came out and I was WOWED!!! Then I sat in one and realize we had been had, bamboozled.

I for one, have never touched my dash and gone “wow it sure would be nice if this was leather”.

I care about seats, armrests, steering wheel. All 3 should be very nice with the 401A and as an added bonus I get a little knee cushion when my foot isn’t on the pedal. (FYI 401A gets the leather dash too 😄)

FYI new M2 comes with Vernasca leather which is 1 step above the fake sensatech “leather”. If you want upgraded Merino leather it’s $10k.

Here’s a thread https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1911740

“ Vernasca was like sitting on a rock for me. I came from a 2021 Expedition Platinum. I went with merino. Not as good as the Ford but much better than vernasca.”

I’m not here to knock BMW/Germans but it’s really important to realize just because it’s German doesn’t mean it’s nicer. Just like a Ford, the good upgrades come at a cost. In this case, much more of a cost than a 401A

It seems like no one can change your opinion on this so why buy a mustang if you dislike it that much?

There are tons of us here who love the new interior despite it not being an ultra-luxury cocoon, nor care too much about the niceness of our sports cars. You're asking a company who's nicest interior is in a F150 to compete with actual luxury car markers, it's never gonna happen.
Not looking for anyone to change my opinion, nor am I looking to change anyone else's opinion. But as I consumer, I have a right to voice my complaints about products I'm buying. I mean, it beats endlessly complaining about hailstorms or the OKTB date.

Furthermore, no car is perfect. I personally qant a fast American-made car made by a company I don't have a bone to pick with, and the Mustang is the only available option. The poorly integrated screen is really the only thing I dislike about it.

And despite what seems to be a bit of an echo chamber here, from what I've seen lurking other forums wirh Mustang enthusiasts, I'm far from alone in my opinion about the screen.

Stop trying to make the mustang something it is not.
The 401A is basically a small fee to have a bit more quality materials

I can tell you that whether you like the new interior or not... it's a lot better than the 2023 GT sitting on my local dealer lot with this interior... (pulled straight from their listing)

The center console, cup holders, arm rest and door cards are pretty much carryover to the S650. Never did like that center information panel. Reminds me of an old phone.

The nice part about the S550 though is that you could get what's in the pictures below with a higher level trim.

You get virtually the same tacky dash regardless of trim level on the S650 (well, minus the 1 vs. 2 tablet thing).

I don't get your point here. Are you saying they should've offered another calculator dash so people who bought the higher trim can feel better?

I think it's great that even on the lowest trim mustang you still get all the cool tech. Nothing "nice" about paying for your car and getting a screen smaller than most smartphones.

I think this is what all those heritage heads want when picturing modern infotainment 😂

My point is the S650 dash is tacky.

You can tell that Ford put a lot more thought/money into designing the interior for the S550, versus the heavily value engineered look they gave us for the S650.

Hope that helps!

I think it looked great for it's time. But if they kept the same style for the new gen, I and many others would have no interest in the s650. The biggest reason I'm going s650 is because I love the new interior. It looks well thought out and easy to use and I love all the customization you can do with it. Worrying about how it's not integrated or luxurious is the last thing on my mind when I'm rowing through the gears enjoying a drive.

As long as it is functional and has cool features the layout does not matter. Luckily for me, I think the layout is sick and I can't wait to start playing around with it and making it my own. I love mustangs and love how they dared to go different with this one. It's refreshing to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while and I'm glad Ford took that step.
