For anyone that has a FP Whipple.. I received my letter from Ford yesterday stating that software update was available. I haven’t experienced any unintended acceleration but will look at getting it in.

I took mine into the dealership that installed my FP Whipple Stage 1 on my 2024 DH Premium (with HP), for this recall.

It failed.

The dealership tried again and it failed again so they took it outside and parked it while they put in a ticket with Ford Technical Support.

I reached out to a contact (a former Ford Master Tech who now works where I work) and he asked "Do you have an aftermarket tune? No? Ok then tell them thing" and then he suggested "If the auto update fails have them use FDRS and manually flash the PCM and if that doesn't work they can order a new PCM with everything they need and install it".

I passed this along to the dealership and was told that they have steps they have to follow and can't skip it. They have a process outlined by Ford so they will call me when they have something.

4 hours after arriving I drove the car home and am now waiting.

Thanks for the info… When FP took the hold off installing their whipple kits Whipple released a revised tune which I already uploaded. When I take mine in I’m hoping that they won’t have to do anything…

Do you remember when that hold was? This dealership installed my Whipple last April. I guess I could write for a performance and give them my Vin number and find out if I am on the latest calibration? I would think that the dealership that does Whipple installs would know that kind of stuff though? But I guess I better double check just in case. That would be embarrassing for them if that was the roof costs.

The last tune revision was 10/15/25. You can email whipple support and give them your vin. They will send you the file if yours is not up to date..you can upload the tune with the tomahawk. I had mine installed January of 25 and since then 2 tune revisionshave been released and have done it myself.

I do have the tomahawk sitting on my passenger seat right now since it just got back from the dealership yesterday. It sounds like my calibration is definitely outdated because they did April 2025 for my install and I have not had anything updated since then. I’m gonna pass that information along to the dealership. If they didn’t take that into consideration, which is actually outlined in their order of operations for failed, PCM updates, then I’m gonna have to speak with someone else or request a different technician or something.

Thanks for the information man. You pointed me in a direction.

I’m definitely not a computer guy and it’s very easy to do yourself if you wanted to go that route

I’ve also not seen anywhere where it says that the Ford dealership needs to upload tune revisions the tune doesn’t even go through Ford. Whipple support sent me both revisions.. Now for the actual recall it may be more to it than just the tune but the paperwork does say to bring in the tomahawk so I feel all they are doing it flashing an updated tune..

You got instructions on that somewhere? I may just end up doing that. We will see what the dealership says.

Here is what I was told by one of our mechanics (who used to work for Ford and was a certified Ford Tech but who now works on our Diesel Engines).....

What Recall 25SA7 Is About (Quick Context)?

Recall 25SA7 applies only to 2024–2025 Mustang GT and Dark Horse models equipped with the Ford Performance/Whipple supercharger kit (part M‑6066‑M8800). The issue is a PCM (Powertrain Control Module) calibration error that disables a secondary safety layer, increasing the risk of unintended acceleration. The fix is a dealer-installed PCM software update.

If the Update Will Not Install: What You Should Do

1. Confirm the Car Is Actually Eligible

Before troubleshooting, make sure your car:
  • Is a 2024–2025 Mustang Dark Horse
  • Has the Ford Performance Whipple supercharger kit installed
  • Shows Recall 25SA7 as open when the VIN is checked

You (or the dealer) can confirm this in Ford’s OASIS system, the FordPass app, or via Ford Owner Support.

⚠ If your Dark Horse does not have the supercharger kit, Recall 25SA7 does not apply.

I RECEIVED THE LETTER FROM FORD SO ASSUME I AM ELIGABLE

2. Have the Dealer Perform a Manual PCM Reflash

If the update fails or is rejected:

Ask the dealer to manually reflash the PCM using FDRS (Ford Diagnostic & Repair System)

This is common when the PCM has:
  • A previous performance calibration
  • An out-of-date base software level
  • A locked or mismatched tune
I ASKED THEM TO DO THIS. THE SHOP LEAD ASKED ME WHERE I GOT THIS INFORMATION AND SO I TOLD HIM. HE SAID THEY HAVE STEPS THEY HAVE TO FOLLOW AND THEY HAVE A TICKET OPEN WITH FORD. THEY HAVE MY CONTACT DETAILS AND WILL REACH OUT WHEN THEY HEAR SOMETHING.

3. Check for Aftermarket or Residual Tunes

The recall software will not install if the PCM detects:
  • A non-Ford aftermarket tune
  • Leftover calibration data from a prior flash
If that applies:

The dealer must return the PCM to a stock Ford Performance calibration first
Then apply the 25SA7 safety update

This requirement is documented in Ford’s recall filings and owner reports.

I HAVE NO IDEA IF THEY DID THIS OR NOT. I WOULD ASSUME THEY WOULD HAVE.

4. Ask the Dealer to Open a Ford Technical Assistance Case

If the update still fails:

Request that the dealer open a TMC (Technical Message Center) or Hotline case with Ford
Ford engineering can:
  • Authorize a replacement PCM
  • Provide a revised calibration
  • Guide a recovery reflash procedure
This is an official escalation path under the recall and costs nothing to you.

I BELIEVE THIS IS WHAT HE MEANT WHEN HE SAID THEY HAD OPENED A TICKET WITH FORD TECH

5. If Needed, Contact Ford Directly

If the dealer cannot resolve it:
  1. Ford Customer Service: 1‑866‑436‑7332
  2. Reference Recall 25SA7
  3. Ask for regional service support involvement
Ford is obligated to resolve recall-related software failures at no charge.

Bottom Line

If your Mustang Dark Horse won’t accept the Recall 25SA7 update, the cause is usually a calibration mismatch—not a hardware problem. A manual PCM reflash or Ford escalation resolves it in most cases.

Finally got this done. Dropped it off Wednesday and it was ready this morning.

For those who read this down the line: the root cause of my failure was that the Whipple tune was out of date. Whipple sent them a new tune and then it was able to take the PCM update.
