First of all, I must apologize for the extended time that has elapsed since the original post, but the wheels of Ford grind especially slow. Here's what has occurred. First, I submitted a claim "file" with Ford through my selling dealer. Within 48 hours Ford responded to the dealer informing them that the fender well was indeed manufactured that way and so there was no fault accessible. We, ( the dealer and I) , then inquired as to why the 2024 and 2025 models share the same fender well liner part number and yet the 2025 liner has no "hole". Sidebar here. In our research we discovered that all of the 2024 S650s have the holes and some of the early production 2025 ALSO have the holes. It was further interesting that my salesman was coincidentally driving a 2024 S650 convertible back and forth to work and could not figure out what the loud rattling comng from beneath the car was, UNTIL he noticed the fender liner holes I was asking about. The rockers were filled with pea gravel.
Ford's response to our further info was no less encouraging; again no remedy offered to the consumer. At this point I contacted Ford customer service directly, explained everything I had discovered, sent them access to DIYVAN's video of the problem and explained that I simply wished to have the issue repaired/replaced. And waited. Two days later I called again and again, no love. At this point I inquired about any rights I might have under my state's "lemon laws" since the car could not actually be driven without "damaging" the car much less exposing it to future corrosion This was probably a mistake. The tone of the conversation instantly changed and I was told basically, "Have your attorney call ours."
Now, back to the dealer, salesman, sales manager, et al. After they again contacted the powers to be on Mount Ford, they too were told that Ford was blameless. The dealer group agreed to ( and this is almost funny) install the DIYVAN part that I made them aware of for free if I would pay for it. Of course, they were talking about the parts I had already purchased from Hein which are sitting on my bench at home. I suggested that one of their body work people install the parts AFTER watching Hein's video rather than having a billybob do the install. All agreed that this was a practical solution and now I'm awaiting install.
Color Ford's actions here with the backdrop that Ford currently already has 115,000 vehicles under recall for "steering failure". And with 40,000 Mustangs sold for 2024, replacing 80,000 fender liners would probably not help their bottom line. My legal friends lead me to believe that this fender liner thing has "class action" written all over it in case any of you out there have a lot of spare time to invest. Oh well, look at the bright side, Chevy is coming out with the all new Nova SS shortly!!! Just sayin.
