I feel like I’m close to pulling the trigger, but with the amount of mods I’m planning on, I could also consider a Corvette. I’m sure asking this site will have some bias, and that’s fine. Want to get some thoughts please!

2024 Mustang GT Premium w/ $10k in Mods

Pros
  • Warranty
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Louder (will have money for an H pipe)
  • Looks cool (will look pretty much like the stage 2 RTR when I’m done)
Cons
  • Slower (no supercharger)
  • No sunroof

2021 Corvette Stingray Premium 2LT

Pros
  • Faster
  • Can remove the top
  • Looks cool

Cons
  • No warranty
  • 30k miles
  • No Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Quieter (and no money for mods)

Back seat & trunk space doesn’t matter, won’t have a loan on either, won’t be tracking either car, no snow where I live, drive about 6k miles/year. Thoughts?

Also if I’m missing more pros and cons lmk!

I’d get the Vette. Should still have the balance of the 5/60 powertrain.

Depends on pricing, but I would go with the Corvette.

What’s your actual use case? Not what you tell internet randos, actually how you intend to use it?

those C8's are an INCREDIBLE bang for the buck as far as performance

I have adaptive cruise in 3 of my cars, including the Mustang, I rarely use it.

How often do you think you are going to use it if your estimated usage is 6000 miles a year?

The only thing I will caution you about WRT the C8 is they are VERY VERY VERY fussy when it comes to picking them up with a lift

If you do not do it exactly like GM says and with the jack adapters they WILL flip off the back of the lift with the rear bumper and muffler on the floor and the rest of the car twisted and broken hanging off the lift.

I am fortunate to be in a position to offer you a fresh objective opinion between these two vehicles. I purchased os 24" Mustang Premium PP in February and drove it until July until I switched to a 24 C8 Z51. Both had magna ride and summer only tires.
The Mustang quality is great, transmission is quick with the 10 speed always in the right place. The seating is very comfortable and the cab is very quiet. The car sounds great and pulls well, just limited by traction from a stand-still. The B&O stereo is crisp and adequate. Having a full size trunk is a nice feature, and the back seat, albeit unusable for humans, does help toss a jacket, hat, etc in when going out or shopping.
Since the first image of the C8 any years ago, I had always wanted one and decided to pivot and trade in the Mustang in August. The Corvette quality is also great and the 8spd works well and also allows for rampant acceleration and a calm cruising speed. The seats look great, their design and appearance are like car-art with the carbon and stitching. I am 6'2", 210 and fit and can offer that the cab is limited in height, width, and leg length. I pales in comparison to the comfort of the Mustang, but of course it was built that way on purpose to hold you in place. The Bose stereo rips the same as the B&O. The trunk gets very hot and the frunk is small, and with no back seat there is nowhere to toss little stuff when riding with someone.
Ride quality, no clear winner. View from the cab, Mustang. Engine sound driving easy, Mustang. Engine sound driving hard, equal. Overall quality, too early to tell but both great from the start. Room for stuff, Mustang. Seat quality, C8. Room/comfort, Mustang for sure. Speed/fun, equal. Acceleration from a stand-still, C8. Faster car, of course the C8. Smile when seeing it in the garage, C8.
You can't go wrong, it is just what you prefer and are ok trading off. If true race-like feel and an exotic feel is what you want, C8. If you want to feel more comfortable/practical and a lot less conspicuous, the Mustang. Good luck and happy driving!

If you ever want to supercharge in the future....yea the Whipple kit for the S650 might be $9-10,000 but you need to see what C8 stuff costs...The ATI ProCharger kit is $19,000!

And if tuning ever comes out for the S650 you should see kits in the $6,000 range like you did for the S550.

I was in a similar situation between a brand new Mustang Ecoboost and a similar price used Porsche 911. I went with the Mustang because of the new car warranty and the technology compared with the old and presumably high maintenance but otherwise respected 911.

The C8 corvette is impressive in acceleration, performance and looks but the Mustang would be 5 years ahead with better screens, technology and warranty peace of mind overall.

Thank you for all the thoughts!

For reference, I do use Adaptive Cruise Control on my current car every time I drive, it’s just muscle memory at this point to turn it on. I think I can get used to living without it though.

Lots more responses than I thought so here goes:

What better tech does the Mustang have besides Adaptive Cruise Control? The screens do look better.

I may need to read up on the S550 tunes, I’m curious if there are any tunes for a stock(ish) level car, or are the tunes more focused towards supercharged mustangs.

You mentioned, speed/fun was equal, though the acceleration from a standstill is the same. Would be very interested if you wouldn’t mind expanding on that a bit.

New daily drive vehicle, though I work from home so no commute, hence the low mileage.

well, as a daily, I think the GT is going to be easier to live with. I have a close by neighbor who has the c8 ‘vette, and I just got the Dark Horse. if you are ever going to need to transport anything, the Corvette will be a difficult partner.

if you’ve got 10k for mods, by the Ford blower and call it a day. can still have the warranty.

But, N/A, the GT is no slouch. You can easily overpower the tires stock.

I was actually looking at adding another Raptor to the garage - maybe an R but they’re like hens teeth and I didn’t see the point in spending 6 figures on an overpowered 3 ton truck with cr@p brakes. I did look at the ’24 Raptor, interior upgrades have improved the truck for sure and the suspension. It’s very familiar and honestly it’s a damn easy vehicle to live with, but I have a ’17 already. I wanted something a little more on the sport side.

Considered the C8 briefly, but knew it would be a chore to daily or take trips in. Mustang is only slightly better, but, I did take my wife on a day trip and she was quite easy to live with, Recaro’s be damned. I have no buyers remorse.

I vote new MGT. it’s a really fun car.

Howdy. I stated that speed/fun were equal. Fully equipped, the Mustang does handle very well and not much different than the C8 on public roads. I’ve never tracked or hit the limits on either so I can’t vouch for threshold abilities. As for acceleration from a stand still, the C8 has much better acceleration due to almost no wheel spin, where the Mustang has a tire meltdown if gassed from a stop.
