Why offer an opinion? It does sound like you care.
Indeed, why offer an opinion on something that doesn't bother you?

The keyboard warrior I was mimicing wasn't smart enough/too arrogant to join the dots, and I was simply echoing back a pointless comment like he did with my concern over the new centre console and stick shifting.

If you missed the hypocrite's comment:
https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/centre-console-cup-holders-have-moved-inwards.157487/

And some of us do use cup holders, so yes, some of us do care.

That's your opinion. I prefer 3.73 so can actually enjoy driving and shifting the box.
Yes for the benefit of the ignorant and insolent, I clearly stated it was my opinion. The fact is that lower gearing can achieve slightly faster acceleration when pushed hard, and within limits, however it largely defeats the advantage of a V8, where you have the power and torque to pull hard in taller gears - and therefore reduce the need to rev the crap out of your car everywhere, and get power to the ground (traction) off the mark in lower gears.

out of interest what are the shifting point differences between 3.55 and 3.73?
7000rpm second and 3rd gear? Anyone know?

It will def bring the 2nd gear under the 100km/h zone which hurt the MT lads, but for driving, if 3rd gear sits nearer 140 than 180, thats personally a bit more fun.
but i get it, the v8 wants to pull those longer ratios and benefits from that where it can be done

From Whichcar:
S550:
GT manual achieves the following speeds at 7500pm in each gear: 82-133-197-280-344-450km/h. 3.55 with Getrag.
The Mach 1 is as follows: 86-126-174-226-280-444km/h. 3.55 with Tremec

So 3.73 would be little bit lower. Still above 100kmh in 2nd gear, more playful.

If my maths checks out - in 3rd at 7000rpm = 154kmh with 3.73.
I mean... to me, the 3.73 would be much more fun. (if we get the manual lol)

Interesting, the NZ Dark Horse has Recaro's by default as a "no cost" option.

FYI...

Carsales.com.au said:
Price rises of about $5000 are anticipated for the continuing Mustang GT – tipped to start from circa-$70,000, retaining its position as one of the most affordable V8s on the market – and the four-cylinder turbo Mustang HP, opening the books at around $57,000.

That $70k must be before ORC?

I priced an S550 GT on the Ford AU builder in January 2022, and base GT price inc ORC was $70,161.
Oxford White, Manual + Options (MagneRide, 19" Forged Ally Wheels, Spoiler, blah blah) soon raised that to $80,278 Drive away.

So like for like, expecting mid $80k.

Thanks for that!
How much was the magnaride? $4k? $10k jump in that list of yours with just 3 options, albeit decent ones.
I havent decided if manual or auto yet, depends on the gearing but i def want magnaride.

Magneride was $2750, 10 Sp Auto around $3,200, Forged Alloys $2500, Rear Spoiler $750, Premium Colours $700, Recaros $3,000. - PLUS 33% LCT + Stamp Duty.

I priced this on 24/04/23 - Drive Away on an Atlas Blue Auto GT $75,155.

There was a minor Net US$150 Price Rise on our Spec MY24 car, so I would be very (!!) disappointed if we are ripped off with an $80K Price ($5K Increase) on a MY24 Auto GT.

As per Steve's post above.

I never made any screenshots at the time, but here's a photo of the hardcopy from 17-Jan-2022.
(Hopefully the website doesn't compress the resolution out of it)
This was my first exploration into a Mustang, and you'll note I was cross-checking the trivial options with aftermarket alternatives. No surprises there!

S650 Mustang 2024 Mustang Australia (AU) Pricing and Timing Schedule 20230802_152150

I did note that from month to month (or whenever I checked) that the trivial options did fluctuate in price +/-. I was beginning to think pricing was directly linked to exchange rate, whereas the big ticket items remained constant.

Lots of mixed opinions about MagneRide, and you know what they say about opinions!
Irrespective, I'm getting it, and I'll soon forget about the $2,750 (or whatever) extra cost.
It's a bit harder to retrofit!
Always a personal decision of course.

Comparing the ranger raptor across NZ & Aus, the price is actually higher in Aus.... (A$97,551 vs NZ$95.990)

If they want over A$116k for a dark horse in Aus I think I'm cancelling my reservation... That price is nuts.

Please tell me I'm missing something here

i wouldnt go by that.
Its horses for courses and the ranger raptor is a new model and i think it was priced based on the surity it would go bananas in AUS but NZ was a much weaker demand.
With the mustang, i think the perception of cost increase could scare a lot of buyers away.

Its not unrealistic for a $5k increase (i think considering what euro brands have done lol) its pretty reasonable.
The dark horse being a range topper and new variant can go any direction, but i would say Ford would stick closer to media released expectation.
From what i saw from other brands halo models though... GR Corolla for example, toyota went $5k over expectation initially (Yaris started at $40k...) then rose to $50k, Corolla was slated at $60k and ends up now at $69k. And they cant get enough stock.
In saying that the average joe can reach to $69k. anything post 100k becomes forget it territory to most buyers sub 40 age bracket with more than 20 years on a mortgage XD
