Not sure why you carry out that sequence? Just put into park and stop the engine. What you are doing when you stop in neutral and then put on the brake means when you put it into park the parking pawl is trying to engage but there is no slack in the transmission because the wheels are locked...

Yes the stock list varies. There was a car with identical spec to mine (almost certainly my original order) but that has gone now, so somebody must have reserved it.
