My Whipple has been delivered. Exciting!
Whipple recommends Motorcraft Full Synthetic 5W-50. I preemptively changed my oil to that during my first oil change two weeks ago at 1500 miles. Ford charges about $210 for a case of 12 quarts of their 5W-50 Synthetic. I bought a case of 12 on Amazon...
You've got a good friend and a fine opportunity. Nice! For me, though, with no ASE certified friends, and given that the number of boosted car problems I've had throughout my life is zero, I find the risk vs reward acceptable.
For the stage 1 kits that offer warranty, Ford Performance or Whipple would assume, within limits, part of the 3 year 36k mile powertrain warranty. It's a great benefit if you want to go that route but of course it costs you that labor up front for the peace of mind that it would bring you. I...
Same, Ford estimated a $2k install for me as well. I asked out of curiosity when I was sitting in the lobby waiting for them to return my car after their 3rd attempt at getting the alignment back to FSM spec after I installed all of my suspension upgrades. Regardless of how representative the...
My Ford Performance branded Whipple kit will be delivered tomorrow provided no courier delays . I intend to do my own install this weekend. I figured I'd start a thread where the self-installers on here can share their advice, tips, and lessons learned from doing their installs . Please, no...
Here's what the manual says about "Drift brake":
Note:When the feature is on, the brake
handle applies braking to the rear wheels
only and locks up the rear wheels. When the
feature is off, the brake handle works like
the foot brake and applies braking to all four
wheels.
I haven't tried it...
Yeah, no linearity to it. There's also no mention of emergency brake in the manual, just parking brake. At least dragging the rears in an emergency will help you come to a stop faster than free spinning wheels.
I had a quarter of the front clip done since it's the most likely surface to be pitted and chipped from rocks. Gives me peace of mind. I plan to keep this car a long time.
Do you ever get wheelhop when driving the rear tires hard? If not, you've either not really pushed it or you have a magical unicorn Mustang. Wheelhop is proven to have detrimental effect on the rear end components of these cars. Better to fix the problem before than to amplify the problem by...
I daily a Mach-e and find it very funny every time someone with a sporty car does this to me. It's extra comical when it's another Mustang owner judging me lol
I don't daily my Dark Horse but the factory Tremec feel was better than my 2012 GT with MT82 Barton Industries kit. The Tremec after installing the MGW kit is the best feeling manual I've ever used but I don't think it'd have any impact on ease of daily driving for me.
I've never autocrossed before. My high performance driving experiences have always been via a Mustang at the drag strip or a sport bike on a road course. My goal with the Dark Horse is to start working towards track days so I started small this weekend and signed up for an SCCA autocross event...
