On the S550 the seating surfaces are leather. The bolsters, sides, & backs are imitation leather (vinyl). The cars with the Premier Trim Group (201a/401a) get a better grade of leather that is really not that bad. Not Porsche quality but OK for the money.
Just posted this on the S650 diecast thread. Found them on the Mustang Owners Museum website for advance order.

For what itās worth, in Ford speak āleather trimmedā means the seating surfaces that your body touches. The rest is leather look vinyl. In your case the seating surfaces are Dinamica. I think they look great.
Youāre missing something! š¤š The Dark House has Dinamica which is pretty much the same as Alcantara or Miko Suede. This is a step up from leather. The California Special and GT350 had these seats. This is on the seating surfaces. The bolsters, sides and back are vinyl as they always have.
This color has been around for many years. Formally Absolute Black.Shadow Black was never metallic. But it is a pearl.

This is far more than just a newer version of what we now know as CarPlay. It requires full integration with the dashboard and its systems. It will be interesting to see how manufacturers do this. That said I believe it would unlikely it would be backwards compatible...

IMHO, the 400a interior is decent enough but the 401a is much nicer with better quality soft materials on the dash, console, and knee bolsters. The contrasting stitching also looks richer. Best that you go to a local dealer and check them out side by side.
They really look the same in pictures, especially with the black interior. The Premier Trim with color accent group gives you better materials and contrasting seat trim.
The 301a is an excellent package and worthwhile if you are looking at a base car.
Also keep in mind that the premium car gets the magnesium one piece bezel around the screens. I lot of folks really dislike the two piece look.
First off, āanalogā gauges havenāt been analog in a long time. Behind the analog dials the gauges themselves are digital. Secondly these screens are no higher than the top of the dash in the S550 so there is no issue with visibility. Lastly, pretty much everyone here thinks the integration could...
The tax was instituted in 1978. The world was a much different place back then. Read all about here.

Whether or not itās āworth itā is solely up to you. For me, I like my comfort and the extras provided by the premium features. It also allows you to add the 401a package.
So basically the seats from a California Special. Ford used the brand name Miko suede for those.
