It’s a *good* automatic. Just like the PDKs in Porsches, or the DCTs in Ferraris and many, many other cars. There are also *good* torque converter boxes out there that are only just a notch off the best dual clutch boxes in terms of input response and outright shift speeds.
But a calling a DCT...
Same here, but it feels like all of those were designed homogenously. The GT500 looks badass, it’s just a chonker in the looks department imo, but the fact that it pulverizes pavement makes it work subconsciously lol
then again I’m obviously biased since I think the GT350 is the most attractive...
Thanks for the images TT, fwiw, that perfectly illustrates the tiny differences. Where the spikes branch into “Ys,” it’s a flat and symmetrical transition on the S550. They’re twisted on the S650 example.
Look at the hub housing the bolts. They run flush with the spokes to the very base. The...
It’s depressing how normalized ADMs are at this point. It affects the used market as a result
Like I’m not even surprised
I’ve passed up three cars over the past couple of years because I refuse to be a sucker that promotes these pig practices
Ironic that dealerships were originally put in...
They’re not the same as the S550 PP wheels. There’s a cant that angles the spokes originating from the hub mount on a 5-point star pattern. The S550 PP wheels were remarkably basic with a flat surface and basic symmetry.
Regardless, it’s busier, not better. And that design has too many spokes...
In fairness, I have zero issue with automatics. Plenty of amazing DCTs and traditional planetary + torque converter boxes out there, and on cars with madlad power outputs and high strung chassis, it sometimes even makes sense as the “correct” gearbox for the job
But don’t call a square a circle
I meant the actual quality, not the weight lol
My 15 GT fobs disintegrated by the 4-5 year mark, the aluminum accents peeled off and the back casing would pop off because the latch wore down
Regardless I get your point, it’s a brick by dimensions
I actually think it looks just fine in body color. Because they hiked the diffuser up so high, the body itself doesn’t have as much visual mass that needs additional contrast to hide (plus the cut line running through the trunk and tail lights is already helping here)
Otoh, the S550 definitely...
There's a point where inflation needs to take a step back, christ. Just built out an equivalent Mach 1 to my '20 GT350 and it's 67.5k. Couldn't imagine spending 70k on a hopped-up GT.
Points 1 and 2 could be marketing nothing-isms considering that mode-dependent configuration of throttle mapping, damper stiffness, exhaust valving, steering assistance, and transmission shift programming have been the norm for Mustangs since 2018 and they don’t specify anything quantitative...
