It used to be that women and the elderly attracted lower premiums. Better accident rates.
There doesn't seem to be much of a difference now, my wife pays about the same for her car.
There is still a preference for older drivers though.
And living in small towns.
It would not surprise me if it were an unmentioned thing here. Our Maori population have an atrocious driving history in general. If an Insurance co saw a Maori name there may be a subtle increase in premiums.
On the other hand, an awful lot of people here, of all ethnicities don't bother to...
Same here. Pristine driving record for both of us, both over 50, in my case a lot, no at fault claims for 18 years, and the bloody premiums keep going up.
But here's thing, 2025 GT 5.0 $93,000, premium $1280pa. 2023 Skoda Kamiq $40,000, premium $1250pa.
And a mates 2022 Suzuki Jimney $23,000...
It's a stretched comparison, the Corvette has too many advantages, like mid engine (more weight over the driven wheels), probably better CDa, more torque. The DH did OK and you can carry more crap in it on a road trip.
I won't even mention price difference. You could buy a GT 5.0 and a DH for...
Can we get off the troll thing?
I think trolling is ultimately a dead end for those that indulge. It harms themselves more than anyone else.
Also, karma works, I've seen ar**holes get their comeuppence too often to not believe in it.
What puzzles me is why the onboard gauge should be wrong. In theory the car knows the distance driven from tyre rotations, time is time, doesn't change, and from what I've see OBD2 speed readings are spot on.
Does anyone know where the error comes from?
That's the beauty of a huge country, lots to see and do.
I've travelled every State Highway in little old NZ, and a lot of the minor roads. Pretty much seen and done everything worth doing.
But I've always thought it's about the journey, not the destination. I live for road trips.
Backing into angle parks is illegal here. And no one would let you out anyway. We have much narrower streets than the US.
That's no fun. I like being told I can't drive 😅
I have to say, I'm probably not as fast as I used to think I was.
