I donāt think they should, the whole BMW thing was contract thing where they had to share tech and from people I know who worked on the project it was a headache. Other than that Toyota collabs with people they have a stake in (Mazda, Subaru etc.)
I think Jim Farley has people he can steal away...
He is correct that the concept shares underpinnings, but truthfully none of those concepts were functional.
Like it was stated before, only one āmuscleā car currently shares a platform with a SUV and itās the Dodge Charger. š
Not saying itās good either, but if you see it in person and sit in...
They arenāt even making the MR2 like that anyways. Theyāre developing a new rwd platform and have made a new performance oriented 4 banger.
theyāre trying to go all in with the Celica, Supra, MR2 and a twin turbo v8 Lexus sports coupe (LFR)
There is no benefit other than saving money but then youāre risking low sales anyways. š
As soon as they do that you can essentially kiss a great performance car out the window.
Midship would be cool but I doubt it at this point. Unless itās a 2nd gen GTD maybe.
Yeah thatās happened before and again those cars died. We should see soon how it pans out with the Mustang sedan.
No I 100% agree with you. Iām just using the logic Iāve seen some throw around. š
Youāre right about a sub brand signifying a performance tierā¦. And that works. Not the other thing some think of.
Bro I know it would never happen obviously but I wish those cars just came out as Vette/911 fighters. Those concepts were awesome. Crazy to think the rode on a Ford GT platform!
Well the fact that theyāre thinking about creating it means 2 things.
@robvas is right that they have many Raptor models and another possibly on the way already. The Mustang Raptor theyāve been rumored to have would be 5 models (interesting how Raptor is a ābrandā with possibly 5 distinct...
I still think the car is cool, something special about a Mustang getting a power up and competing with the big boys.
But sometimes I remember the Ford GT and even the 2004 Shelby Cobra concept they were gonna make before the economy got crazy. They were always positioned as that high level...
I mean not really, technically the Camaro used a brand new chassis and didnāt increase in price all too much while having what some consider better things like transmission. They took the alpha platform designed to take on bmw for Cadillac.
Ford would be doing it the other direction by taking...
Good points, thatās the interesting thing about the S650 currently, itās kind of in its SN95 phase of the platform in a way. Farley hinted at losing weight being something important for performance reasons in the future but who knows.
Yeah I donāt think Ford is too concerned about the Charger...
Thatās why they need to pick a direction finally. Iām glad @Q6543 came with some good news as it shows something truly exciting is on the horizon, but for the future itās about time they made a move.
Imagine a new chassis being turned into a 2nd gen GTD. That car would be pretty crazy. The...
Yeah the limit is itāll die off like stated before. Already happened with other cars.
issue with Farley wanting the Mustang to be Fordās ā911ā is it comes at a price. New chassis, a lot of dedication to the platform. They just need to pick a direction.
As much as a mid engine Mustang would be...
Twin Turbo V8 screams modern Terminator for sure.
I kinda feel bad for Vaughn after seeing him so excited for the car though. Itās kind of in a weird spot.
