One of the things that sold me on the Mustang was that it's a revvy beast with a smallish V8.
Same here. Maybe in some big luxo-barge, a larger engine with a 6000 rpm redline would be more appropriate, but I dig having a V8 that can rev to over 7000 rpm and feel like it wants to keep going.

It does. All my tunes take them to 7800rpm where peak airflow is for the s650 coyote. They sing up there.

I get what you’re saying. I came from 6.4 Scat Packs / SRTS and an 18 Camaro SS 1LE…

The Mustang sounds amazing but just never felt right - never felt and fast.

Then I installed the Whipple. I second what others said. Add the blower.

retains drivability and will throw you so far back in the seat you’ll be saying 6.WHO???

if ya got the means- do it…

Tune + 4.10s /4.30s / 4.56s or bust, lol. That will definitely make it feel spunkier. I've been considering 4.10s + for a bit. Haven't done it yet though. The tune helped a lot (I also had a throttle controller before the tune) with the throttle response/ mapping which is good for daily driving, imho.

Having owned 12 S550's and 650's as well as competing in a ZL1 and SS1le, the massive difference is the drivetrain. They are two entirely different philosophies of making power. Low redline large displacement making nearly instant torque, versus high redline small displacement making very little torque down low. Add in gear, trans gearing (Ford sucks at their gearing comparatively. It's usually conservative.) Also, Ford's traction control is a literal joke compared to Chevy's PTM, which LOVES to pull power constantly. Ford's system will consistently pull power with TC on if you're running a tire not up to par.

It's something you learn to live with, or....well you don't. Some cars and drivetrains just don't resonate with all. I don't care for the way Japan generally does things so I stay away from them. You've gotta learn the quirks and limitations and it DOES get better. I promise!

The fix is:
A) Learn to live in higher RPM's. Don't be afraid to keep it higher than the LT. It loves being there.
B) PD blower. Add low end torque to a high end torque motor and all win.
C) Intermediate, Go E85, throw in some 4.09's. You'll see a decent jump in power throughout the entire powerband.

After reviewing the advice from everyone, option A and C on your fix is pretty much what I've planned on. The blower will be a down the road option.

I have been purposely adjusting my driving style to accommodate the higher rpm style of driving over the last week or so. Such a crazy difference from my Camaro and Challenger! It is a lot of fun one you start doing it.

I believe, like others have said, the tune and 4.09's will hit the sweet spot of how I want it to drive without spending 10k.

Appreciate everyone's input.

Remember in the caveman days, the Cobra came with a 4.6 32V DOHC engine, barely revved to 7,000

Ford gave the cars 3.27 which was a complete joke. Anyone who wanted the car to feel like it should put 4.10, 4.30, or 4.56 gears in it

And that was basically a requirement if you upgraded to the T56 transmission, which isn't geared much different than the current MT82

Ah yes...the old Terminator Cobra. Friend had a "Mystichrome" one or whatever the color was called. It definitely made my 2002 Z28 feel like a slug...

Oh whoops. I wasn't going to challenge your assessment since I never drove one but I was surprised when you said those Cobras were slow.

Makes total sense now.
