Yesterday afternoon after I got out of work I drove home and the transmission on my car felt rough when shifting. So earlier today I went on the ford app and got this notification that my transmission might be fucked. Car is a 2025 Mustang gt with 35k miles. Hopefully it’s covered under warranty.

The bumper-to-bumper warranty is 3Y, 36,000 mi / 57,600 km.

The powertrain warranty is 5Y, 60,000 mi / 96,000 km.

Automatics are complicated. Could be something simple, like a stuck valve in the valve body, a solenoid needing replacement or low fluid. Transmissions are ocasionally found a quart or more down from the factory. Could be something more significant.

I'd drive it as little as possible before taking to the dealer. If you do drive it, drive it lightly.

The dealer will open a ticket. If repairs are involved, that date and mileage will be the reference for the warranty.

@RobBlock09 ...... you're under warranty BUT get it to a dealer immediately as you will get little if any support if you keep driving it and as we all know every movement and time is available to the manufacturers of all vehicles. Be smart and you're covered.

You are not screwed yet, but someone has a rubber and a tube of K-Y out and is looking for you.

Unfortunately the transmissions are the weak points in these cars

Get it to a dealer, let them diagnose it and determine how it is going to be fixed.

Is it shifting funny? Can you put it thru the gears manually?

There are so many things that go on it an automatic transmission between computers, programming, electrical inside the unit, fluid pathways in the valve body and into the various clutches and accumulators it is hard to even guess what is going on in there.

Quick update: I took the car in today to ford and the whole transmission is being replaced

No transmission is bullet proof (unless you get RSA to build you one) and we all know how Mustangs get driven. GM and Ford co-designed the transmission and it has been phenominal in the Camaros and Mustangs considering what these cars were meant for and how they are (sometines lol) driven. BTW if you want to drive your mustang auto extra hard get an aux cooler it will be money well spent. Electric cooling fans or mini rads both work great.

The other one is actually the one that snagged me first: ‘may not being’, Say what? I suspect they either meant:

Or

“Some transmission gears not being available may result in delayed or
harsh shifts into another gear.”


but either way, not exactly the confidence builder regarding the whole concept of smart app.

Well, that sucks but at least its under warranty. And Id rather have a new transmission than a rebuild.
