These are official design sketches directly from GM on their design Instagram account. These could hint at the sort of direction they're going in. I actually kinda like these, especially that red rear end sketch.

Quite a few of the linked stories mention that it's not what we think it might be. Maybe even a four-door. I bought a brand new 2010 Camaro RS with a manual, it was the second worst car I've EVER owned. GM quality still doesn't come close to what you get from Ford.

Well considering ford has led the globe in recalls for recent history I wonder about that...lol...My maverick is a 2025 i bought last September and i just got the 5th recall for it...They don't have solutions for all of them yet...The 2024 I had before it had three recalls...So Ford is far from Q1 anymore...imo. I've lost count of the stop sales they've had on cars/trucks the last few years including the Mustang...

The good news is the new Chevy is supposed to get the new Corvette 409 which has both port and direct injection....and should be a torque monster...and as others have said...keeps the Mustang getting improvements...Next up Mopar...

It's going to be interesting to see the choices they make. They have a few options and a lot of being bandied about right now
2 door midsize vehicle - basically the size of the outgoing Camaro 109/110" wheelbase. 2+2. If this happens, I would also expect a convertible model.
4 door midsize vehicle - still 110 or so wheelbase, full rear seat, but still really a 4 seater. Similar in size to the outgoing CT4.
4 door full sized - think Chevy SS. 5 seater with the potential for both economy and performance packages. Maybe it gets called an SS, Impala, Chevelle, aka, it doesn't have to be a Camaro. This size would also let them get back into the police vehicle market again.

I think a lot of it will depend on how much money they want to sink into this. The CT4 had problems selling, but Camry sold over 300k units and they are about the same size as did Accord. So there is a market there, but I am not sure if GM wants to make two or three different sized vehicles/configurations (Chevrolet Midsize 2 door/convertible, Buick midsize 4 door, Cadillac Full size 4 door), or do they make the same car size (all CT5 type full sized sedans)

My personal preference is a high performance full size Chevy SS or Buick Grand National, but would that Buick cannibalize the CT5 sales or invigorate it? Would they step down to the midsize and produce three distinct vehicles on the platform...2 door, 4 door midsize and 4 door full size in Chevy/Buick/Cadillac respectively? Keep it all the same? No idea. Guess we will wait on the next installment on this story.

One other thing....will this push Ford towards making the Mach 4 sedan, or away from it

Ford should make a sedan regardless, but it comes down to marketing. If you can make a product with less backlash, go for it.

Lately I've been seeing more and more speculation that they're going to put the new 6.7L V8 (LS6) in it, which will crank out 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. That's about 100 more torque than our beloved mustang, which is a lot more power under the curve.

However, I expect the LS6 to be much more difficult to safely boost. With its 13.0:1 compression ratio, adding aftermarket forced induction runs a high risk of engine knock without expensive internal modifications or highly specialized racing fuels.

Whatever it ends up being, I'm grateful for the mustang sharing the Coyote and the 10R80 with the F-150, and the new camaro likely sharing some architecture with the Cadillac CT4/CT5 (and the LS6 with the new stingray), otherwise I don't know how economical it would even be to make either of these cars anymore.

I beg to differ, wife has a 2024 gt now,but had a 2020 LT1 camaro and the fit and finish is better and feels faster,AND Sounds better than the mustang in stock form.
Just bought an xpipe to get a better growl for her car.
We gave the camaro to our daughter, and the wife said she should have waited for the 7th Gen camaro.
