Got a 2026 Mustang GT with the standard (non-active) exhaust.

Thinking about upgrading to the factory-style active exhaust with valve control modes.

Has anyone done this? How complex is the install and what’s the rough cost? Is it worth going OEM or aftermarket?

Also, is an OEM active exhaust retrofit even possible? I saw a kit on Ford’s website, but it looks like it’s only for the S550 models.

Appreciate any inputs!

From what I gather, it's not really practical or worth it.

A cheap and ghetto-tech way of doing it is to buy 2 take-off OEM active exhaust mufflers (~$300 on eBay), and devise a simple mechanical method to flip the valves open/closed (reach your hand under the muffler to switch it before you drive in the morning).

Someone on Youtube posted a video showing this I think using a magnet, and it's pretty smart. But not sure if magnets will maintain magnetism with repeated exposure to exhaust heat).

Exhaust companies could even make simple mechanical hand-switchable active exhaust mufflers as a product line.

Check out valvetronic. Don’t hack your car up piecing crap together for an option you should have gotten in the first place. The Valvetronic setup uses a Bluetooth controller to open and close the valves.

With that said I have the AE mufflers and controllers in my garage if you want them. I’m in southwest Ohio. $200
