this is a pretty hot take i will admit, but for the months i've been shopping for wheels, i cannot for the life of me find a wheel that fits my s650 mustang perfectly. my mustang is in rapid red, which for me has been a pretty awkward color to choose a wheel color, and kinds of wheels in general for.

i have a certain taste in wheels, as in i really love that shiny silver color, and probably the only other color i'd do on the s650 is black wheels, but i do not think that black looks good on rapid red, and for that matter i don't think black wheels are all that great in general, and i also can't find a rapid red s650 with silver wheels as a reference picture for what i want. the only wheel that i have seen that looks perfect with the s650 is the vossen hfx-1 with this beautiful rtr mustang, but that wheel is too extravagant and expensive, and you really need to go all out to get that perfect fitment. along with that, the wheels are quite expensive and in my opinion spending $2k+ for wheels is kind of absurd.

there's also an example of someone with these wheels on youtube iirc, i think that bought these in 18 or 19 inch wheels that looked pretty dumb on the car, and is something i want to avoid. i think the hf-5 from vossen is also amazing as well, but again, the price is out of the question. i've tried looking on social media for inspiration with silver wheels and they're all crazy builds that are slammed and have bags (which imo, is quite stupid to do on a car like this) with insane 3 piece wheels and are completely off with what i want. i'm also not the kind of person to buy a different oem wheel, like the pp wheels, although they do look great.

to shorten the rant, it's best to ask you people what kind of wheels look the best on the s650 in general? what wheel color looks best in rapid red? i've been stuck on this for months now and all my research and inspiration has led me nowhere, even looking to places like fitment industries that show a bunch of cheap wheels wouldn't look good on the s650 i don't think.

to add one last note, what would be the right steps to make aftermarket wheels look good? should i get something that's the same size as my stock wheels and lower it 1-2"? what spacers would give it the perfect fitment with the fender? i don't want to go crazy like that rtr mustang, which from what i've seen on this thread you would need bags or camber bolts/plates or you'd ruin your car in weeks, but at the same time i also want a clean look with minimal space between the top of the tire and the fender or else it kind of looks weird and not much better than stock.

If you're looking for cheap looks, 20s with 265/35 tires fill the gap nicely.

Had to summarize your post after reading it a few times. Hope this answers your questions.

Which wheel colors and styles best complement Rapid Red.
  • Refined look
    • Silver - Clean look with a bright contrast
    • Gunmetal / Gray - Middle ground between t he silver above and black below
    • Black - Not what you want but it give a meaner look
  • Style / Statement
    • Bronze - classic look with a warm but high end build feel
    • Chrome - traditional show car look
    • White - high contrast - but brake dust on the emergency daily

How to achieve a better-than-stock fitment (minimal fender gap) without "ruining" the car with extreme modifications.
  • Staggered - F: 275/35/R20 and R: 315/35/R20
  • Rides good and performs good
  • Downside - rear tires are pricy at around 500 each for a top tier option.

Specific recommendations for wheel sizing, spacers, and modest lowering (1–2 inches).
  • I personally went with the Steeda Trident wheel in grey (white car). They list the sizes and offsets on their site. Made it pretty simple to get the fitment I wanted without extra stuff like spacers.
  • Trident Wheels - details

And you got the DH center caps too. I like those. I'm looking at some myself.

Late Model Restoration SVE 355's look awesome (personal opinion) on the Gen 6 and 7.

Have the 355 staggered 19x10 front and 19x11 rear in Titanium/gray on my dark blue 2018.

Have the same staggered SVE's on my 2024 that came with the Ford factory bronze set up. Put the SVE 355's in bronze this on this one.

Priced right as well from LMR.

There’s only so many designs for a wheel.
And I agree, EVERYTHING is pretty much played out.

I run my stock set and a drag pack, that’s all.

yeah i apologize for the very long post, but there's a lot on my mind when it comes to this. thank you for differentiating the colors and what it does for the car, the car came stock with gunmetal gray but its a very dull color in my opinion. thanks for the guidance on the wheel gap and stuff though, i appreciate it.

those wheels do look great on the s550 mustang, and i'm pretty sure i know a guy thats running those or has reps of those that don't look all too bad on his s550, but for me the only problem i have with it is the fact that it only looks good in black and i have better ideas for black wheels. i might look more into lmr though because they are a great website for everything mustangs.

i think i've been recommended this brand before, i have a friend that has these on his gti but i can't get over the fact that i know this exact design from 3 other brands, and that they're insanely expensive! i know that these things you can't really cheap out on, especially if you want a light wheel and one that won't crack when you hit a pothole, but still. thanks for the recommendation though, i think it'll be something to fall back on.

yeah i've been told that i should just get a drag pack as a joke because it'll look great, but it's not like it's going to be put to use cause i'm not going for some crazy numbers and the car never feels like it wants to lose traction anyways, even in 1st gear

I've honestly found that the stock performance pack wheels are some of the better looking ones
surprisingly it is and everytime i see a mustang with those wheels they look great with them, but unfortunately they only look good in black and i think i know a better option. probably the best wheel out there for mustangs for their price though, and would be perfect for an oem+ build.

i guess what i'm really getting at here is that i want silver/chrome wheels, but these are great wheels to fall back on though.

sometimes its a decent idea to cross reference the bolt pattern and offset, then look at manufacturers of wheels for other brands, like the corvettes, Japanese stuff, etc. If the offset is close enough, bolt pattern matches, and the style is to your liking, you might be able to get away with it. Never hurts to look. I saw some guy running 90's GT three spokes on his Kia Soul the other day. Looked funky.

If the offset is almost there, you can make up the difference with some high quality spacers and longer studs.
